geojam,

when you in starbucks, and you turn on your wireless to scan the network available to you, if you were to choose the ones that are tied in with Starbucks, (i think is Starhub) then you need to have a wireless account with Starhub. That is gonna cost you.

So sign up with one of the three i mentioned, then since Starbucks generally are located in 'atas' areas, and 'atas' areas have the wireless@SG coverage, you should be ready to rock and roll.

no need to go to m1 or singtel

when you in singapore look for me, i teach you how to text.... without even looking. lol....

Think i will answer that on behalf of Asterisk.

Basically, wireless@SG as the service is known (duh!!!) is one initiative to connect the little red dot to the rest of the world via the Internet. Now this mean feat is achieved by the gahmen who asked/told/ordered 3 wireless service providers, namely Qmax, Singtel, and iCell to provide the infrastructure and also to provide free access for 3 years so that ppl in Singapore can get hooked on it.

Currently as it stands, the whole island is still not fully wireless enabled, but in the city area and in major suburban shopping malls, there is some coverage. Now just by signing up with either of the above 3, you will be able to login using your account even if the sector you are in happens to be the other 2's "territory"

dear Asterisk... good that you have so many foreign students on the campus.. do mix with them... they will be your future business contacts, networks.. ..  btw, flights to HCMC not that expensive.. S$260 pls tax/fuel for two to travel...  hotels if you rough it out a bit or better make friends with your fellow vietnamese folks and they may put up up for free...  I did that when I was a student and had a pen pal in Chiengmai... so I hitchhiked there and saw Chiengmai long before many of my fellow students..

yes, Geojam.. i think you can but I have not used it..  I think Eastonbay have said it can be done..  what i understand is that you need to have Singtel or Starhub user id and log in with your passport ...  but there is this so call free service island wide, not sure how it works (you see I am hardly in Singapore so mintah maaf..)  can  Asterisk answer this ?

HCMC.. its a fast developing city.. immediate impressions the thousands of motor cycles, bikes, scooters.. and the people on them, some four persons on one bike, others two each with one hand carrying things,vases..equipments etc. I saw one with large roll of wires around his waist... etc .. really a fantastic sight.. and these bikes move very close to one another, but never touched.. you got to see it and experience the buzz....  the vigour of the youth that really runs the business, many are even younger than you yet they are running travel agencies etc.  and they are so willing and enthusiastic to try all things... you gotta visit HCMC asap...

ah hah.. Singaporegal, choohian... spoken so very wisely....  but maybe because you folks dont really like beer or wine? so no real incentive to bet..?

dear Geojam.. wireless broadband means broadband without any need for wires..  but you still need to have a ISP (internet service provider) to log on to.. most notebooks (we dont call them laptops) nowadays have inbuild wireless modems (some on the mother board) so like you say when you switch on the notebook or lappie, the notebook seaches for a wireless connection or hotspot (like when you are in a starbucks outlet or KFC etc).. then wahlah, are connected provided the link is unsecured..  Most hotspots in other countries requires you to buy credit in which they then give you a user id and passport to access their ISP.

i agree with you Vic that it would take some while for this counter to go back to the $1.5 that it had enjoyed last month...  but i think it would go back to 1.30 in up to a year rather than years.. we shall see some results next quarter.. anyway.. as I was willing to tikam earlier on this stock when it was down to 1.20 about three months ago (I had since sold when it went to above 1.3 becos I dont think then that the stock is worth that type of price), I remain willing to pick up the stock now that is is below $1.0..  and I really dont believe it will go below 0.90.. but perhaps the resistance can be at 95cts anyway we shall see by friday..

hi, auntie bunnie, my shi san yee..  I agree geojam is of cos joining for the fun (seems beside TA vs RA, it looked like guys vs gals too  (exception Vic because he is referee and altho more a TA guy not siding w elf because he is a guy..so maaf mintah kasi Vic, be more understanding elf..) ... but as for hp upgrade leh.. I think elf will not get it becos she has betted wrongly...he he...  but if you are so sure, btw..Begging what about you joining the bet (i.e take up geojam's bet) and bet that hp upgrade for elf?

so how about singaporegal, fairygal, fortunegal, slimsk,  or will the line up be or is it perceived elders vs youth? and jerome, asterisk where is your stand?
