Singapore Hot Stocks-NOL in focus after container shipping rise
Mon Mar 31, 2008 8:47pm EDT

SINGAPORE, April 1 (Reuters) - Neptune Orient Lines (NEPS.SI: Quote, Profile, Research) may be in investors' focus on Tuesday after the shipping firm said it carried more cargo on its ships.
U.S. stocks gained on Monday as a report showing stronger-than-expected business activity in the Midwestern part of the country eased worries about the economy, and a plan for regulatory overhaul raised hopes for calmer financial markets.
Stocks and factors to watch:

- Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI: Quote, Profile, Research) Chief Executive Chew Choon Seng said the carrier will feel the economic slowdown because of its international exposure and potentially shrinking corporate travel budgets, the Business Times reported.
- Singapore's benchmark Straits Times Index .FTSTI lost 0.81 percent to 3,007.36 points on Monday.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI gained 0.38 percent to 12,262.89 points and the Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 0.79 percent to 2,279.10 points. (Reporting by Tan Wei Xin; Editing by Jan Dahinten)
Apparently a technical research report on NOL was published and yes, it does seem to be building up on vol strength also. Would be interesting to see how it pans out over next few days.
not vested.
Bollinger bands are tight and Acc/Dist and Chaikin are rising.
Good signs that it may be bottoming out.

You are bound to see a lot of magic in this Stock investment interest....
Hope you be aware and act accordingly...
All d best...Cheers....!!!!
Greetings fellow investors,
I myself have been monitoring NOL for a long time ... just curious about its price's developments at the moment. Why is it increasing despite slowing shipping volume sales in the US? I understand that the bulk of its profits are derived from the trans-alantic route and with the impending slowdown, the profits will be definately affected yes?
So how is the price increasing in the meanwhile, from 2.90+ to 3.30+? The div.ex date is 17th april so we should except to see a drop in its price after the dividend is given out in may yes? Perhaps it will be wiser to enter only after the div is given out?
Still new to investing, any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Bought back this share at 3.08 today for the benefit of 0.10 cents dividend. Any forumers bought and care to share.... Thanks in advance...
Not bad for this counter... Contra off at 3.06.... Will be back to collect more for the benefit of dividend...

I always think that a trend is obvious only after the event...
Which is to say, no one can tell the trend until the trend has made itself apparent.
Thus, I never never say it's an uptrend or downtrend.
This is because the trend, no matter what it is today, can reverse itself tomorrow...
Thus I always post only comments which are useful for improving one's one's 'market-quotient' and not money-making tips (which most people desire)...
Watch out friend...
It's still in the down trend mood...
...all d best...!!

if its this low again.. the ma conside buy in.
Well, good luck on monday in this stock~!
Ya! I bought at 2.94 and wanted to post here to remind other forumers but forgot about it. Dividend is 10 cent and Ex Date 18 April. Payable date is 5 May... Nevermind, try again on Monday...
Ahh~~ should have buy it yesterday at 2.95.
The lowest recent price is $2.88 (from my memory). CNY eve, and this price is the intra day low.
Many analyst CIMB, UBS downgraded the stock then because of US recession and Oil. But they make a U-turn some 2 week later because of potential MA. with a TP of $4.5. CIMB even go further to say no much more down side @3.20++
In 2005, a company, if you remember, want to takerover for $4.50. Temasek responsed by buying more share at $4.8. So later, NOL did a captial reduction of $1. Interestingly, this is perhaps the first company in Spore to borrow money to fund a capital reduction.
So now 3 year down the road, I think they have made back the $1. I think the buy out price should be better than 4.5.
If NOL, buy out the fifth largest shipping line, then a good news too. NOL will become the 3rd or 4th largest in the world with full coverage of Asia, America and Europe.
TUI is under pressure to spin out the shipping arm. MA is inevitable ?? If MA, who buy who ??
Anyway, the NTA USD1.81, EPS 35.33 UScts. or PE 6.5years
