Ausgroup Ltd (S$0.73) - Right place, right time

We initiate coverage on AusGroup with a target price of S$1.08, based on 13x

CY11 P/E, in line with its historical average since listing. We see share-price

catalysts from order wins from a series of LNG and mineral projects in Australia.

Among its SGX-listed peers, AusGroup has purer exposure to the Australian LNG

sector, thanks to its wider ambit of services and operations in Australia. The group

is bidding for A$2bn worth of orders in LNG and mineral resource projects over

the next 12 months and we estimate its order book could grow by 25% to A$500m

by Jun 10. We see a buying opportunity as AusGroup is trading below its

historical valuations.

AusGroup can secure an initial A$125m contract in FY10. Among its SGX-listed

peers with exposure to Australia, AusGroup stands to benefit the most from an

CB&I wins Gorgon prize

 Thursday, 01 October, 2009, 01:26 GMT  |

The company beat competition from the French-Australian pairing of Entrepose and Theiss for the lucrative work.
CB&I's scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of two 180,000 cubic meter full containment LNG tanks, four condensate tanks and the associated piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil works. CB&I's portion of the project is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2013.
"This award, our fourth major LNG project in Australia in the past few years, demonstrates our technical expertise and proven experience in the LNG industry, and capitalizes on CB&I's 75 year history in Australia," said CB&I president Philip K. Asherman.
The Gorgon Project is a joint venture between Chevron, ExxonMobil and Shell, to develop the Greater Gorgon gas fields, located between 130 kilometres and 200 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The Greater Gorgon gas fields, Australia's largest-known gas resource, contains about 40 trillion cubic feet of gas.

Good buy

The below report  from CIMB on 30/9/2009 Wednesday

Expected to secure A$125m orders from Gorgon in the next six months.

Over the next 18 months, management plans to submit A$1bn of bids for the Gorgon
project.

Some A$60m has already been submitted and another A$420m will be
submitted by end-2009.

The bids are for fabrication work for the upstream phase (preassembled
pipe racks, modules, subsea manifolds and spools).

We expect the group to secure A$125m of contracts from the project by 1Q10.

To date, the Gorgon project has awarded A$2bn worth of projects to sub-contractors for infrastructure and logistics work and is expected to award another A$10bn in the coming three months.

We anticipate further order wins from the Gorgon project for AusGroup from 2H10
when contracts for subsea/LNG plant work are announced.

On the lookout for acquisitions.

With a strong cash position, we expect management to announce acquisitions in the near term. Potential acquisitions would be similar to MAS: providing similar businesses, enhancing AusGroup’s footprint in East Australia/South-East Asia and achieving the required rate of returns

Ausgroup rated outperform

The Edge, 30 Sept 2009

CIMB in a Sept 30 research report says: "AusGroup provides fabrication, construction and asset maintenance services to the oil, gas
and mineral resource industries. Capex for the Gorgon LNG project in Western Australia has been projected at A$43 billion. Tendering
for various contracts is underway and we believe AusGroup can secure an initial A$125 million contract in FY2010.

"AusGroup is bidding for A$2 billion worth of orders in LNG and mineral resources over the next 12 months. We estimate its order book
could grow by 25% to A$500 million by June 2010 from A$400 million currently. AusGroup is trading at a market cap to order book of
0.74x, a discount to its 3-year average of 1.34x. On a forward P/E basis, it is trading at 9x for CY11, below its historical 13x average.

We see a buying opportunity. Target price of $1.08.  OUTPERFORM (initiating coverage)."

Hi juyong, what is a good price to re-enter?  On Friday, price closed at 0.695.  It is showing accumulation is going down, so is the momentum and strength.  Price has gapped down on the opening on Friday which is bad.  It may break 50days EMA.  Wait for the price to stable down, before making an entry.

Thank you Bintang for sharing your analysis and Richtan for your kind advice. Correct me if I'm wrong, looks like if that is the case, a price between $0.67 to $.70 may be a good price to re-enter for mid-term investment.

Hi juyong , the support at 67 cents is at the lower trendline of the current downtrend channel , if this would not provide support , then  it may go down to cover a gap at 59 cents , so if u are going to trade , then set your  stop-loss protection .
