traders [who sold jan contracts] thought feb contract px wud be lower than jan's.....they lost..... but they wud be looking into [a] why feb's contract's current opening px is $42 which is more than jan's $33 by $9 i.e. almost 30% and [b] why and what is/are the reason/s traders and others bought feb's future px at current around $42 [which means those buyers expect px for march's contract px to be higher than $42].............interesting.

Something like this...with little correction:traders are still speculating so oil futures pce increased from Jan to
Feb contract because they sell before Jan contract
expires. Otherwise, they could have made ~USD 10 profit by taking delivery in
Jan given pce differential if Feb oil futures were higher. |

When Farmer said (quote)
Meaning
- speculation still at play as there's a jump in contract price from
Jan end to Feb start of a new trading mth...probably most traders
prefer to sell towards contract expiry and not to take delivery of
crude as storage may be a problem. Else, they could have profit
straight away on ~USD10 difference.

does he mean : traders are now speculating so oil futures pce increased from Jan to Feb contract so that they can sell high then before Jan contract expires. Otherwise, they could have made USD 10 profit by selling in Jan given pce differential if Feb oil futures were lower. Makes any sense? :) -- Farmer pls correct me if wrong
Anyway, Bollinger Band probably hint hint that the counter price might dive cos mgt did warn about poor earnings- the previous and current pce for this counter defied logic and I agree that pce may have been propped up artificially. I expect pce to go down. Pls consult your investment advisor for expert advice.
Bollinger Band is very narrow & tight with this counter, meaning not much of a price movement for very long time.It need a spark to ignite it to be decisive, will it explode & dive or will it sky rocket? Need expert to enlighten in this field as I know nothing about oil.

does oil price increase necessarily correlate to increase in SPC and Sembmarine share price in general?

A few months later you may remember seeing this post : Next big thing in 2009 - credit debts.

Polariod in US already file for chapter 11, bankruptcy, looks like more to come.
Not all stocks have the same stock chart pattern as the STI.

Hope you are right that market has botttomed....BUT something bugging me that the BIG one might be brewing...from:
(1) unpreceented surge in USD money supply, which should have bankrupted USD by now;
(2) the reality of unprecedented global retrenchment and company bankruptcies might create a negative spiral effect next year;
Notwithstanding above it looks positive overall but IMO it is wise to factor in Murphy's Law, expect the unexpected......
