ship still unable to hold on to  1.10   but today STI sink 25points guess the bad market sentiment also spook any potential investors.

Hope tomorrow a better day for ship and everyday slowly move up then u see 5% gain in a week.

ship moving up to 1.10 currently, hope this would mark the start of share price recovering but I still staying put till fund managers jumped in too.

Let hope  good Maersk 2Q result can boost investor interest in ship on Monday as Maersk performance is generally a benchmark for worldwide container shipping carriers. But this time round maybe only benefit carriers who got the financial muscle to renew fleet/ restructure cost   in tough working environment.

Maersk ups shipping forecast as container profit jumps Danish shipping and oil group A.P. Moller-Maersk reported a smaller-than-expected drop in second-quarter net profit on Friday aided by a sharp improvement in its container shipping unit and costs. Operator of the world's biggest container shipping fleet, Maersk said net profit fell about 11 percent to $856 million, against a forecast of a 30 percent drop to $667 million in a Reuters poll of analysts. Second-quarter profits for shipping unit Maersk Line, which generates just less than half of its group revenue, surprisingly rose helped by lower costs, including lower fuel costs. Maersk Line, whose vessels make up around 15 percent of the world's container shipping capacity, reported a $439 million profit, up from $227 million a year earlier, beating forecasts for a $99 million profit. Results for the container shipping unit are now seen significantly above those in 2012, against a previous forecast for the results to exceed last year's $461 million. However, the group cut its outlook for growth in demand for seaborne containers to 2-3 percent from 2-4 percent. - reuters - See more at:

Maersk can make money in low rate cos they got a ruthless CEO who place priority in cost cutting. Maersk is about 3 times size of NOL so if scale down to size of cost cutting, actually ship is moving in right direction. ( Maersk = 900M cut vs NOL = 240M ( exclude oil price saving)). The issue is we cannot see significant cost saving in ship yet as chartered ships are still in progress of retiring and new built replacing it, might cost load factor to move up/down. Once all the chartered ships had been retired and all new builds becomes operational then we would see significant drop in operational cost and ship would had the same or more competiveness than Maersk in mid 2014. Patience is key to making money on ship trading, just need to wait out the storm then we see daylight soon. But I am seeing a bigger improvement in 3Q operating cost than 2Q due to more chartered ships leaving service than new builds replacing it. 2Q got no chartered ships returned so I guess the bulk of that chartered capacity reduction might be in 3Q resulting in better load factor = better freight rate. 135K TEU charters ships expected to retire in 2H13 till 2014. 5 ships left  of total 55kTEU to be delivered this year.

Maersk just keep going like that for few years, still profitable but kill all the weak competitors like NOL.

Good article I found on JOC. Maersk double it 2Q net profit compared YoY mostly thorough extreme cost cutting exercise, it cut like 900M including 310M reduction in bunker price. Maersk enjoyed a 5% margin over rival competitor just by doing more cost cutting not through raising rate. NOL moving in right direction and had way more fat to cut and cut till it reached the same profile as Maersk. Revenue and freight drop a lot never mind as long operating cost is reduced very significant then u can earn more than u can imagine. It all about cutting cost and reducing ships usage when demand is weak. NOL is catching up fast  just need 2 more quarters then u see operating cost go down by another 10% next year. Army colonel just need to push harder on cost cutting and do more retrenching of workers, maybe might just sell away non profitable port/terminal even better.

NOL debt is about 2 times its equity . Maersk is only abt 50%.

Right issues not possible, last time NOL want to issue bond  but stop by Temasek. By the way all the money temasek invested in ship all come from our CPF money lol unlimited bullets to use. Shortists in forum had been crying for right issue for 2 whole years to make investors scared but tactic not working. Prepare all ur necks for the inevitable short covering , better pray hard there is shares out there to cover else hehe all shortists would be supporting ship rise lol. Blood feast and we punters would all swoop down like vultures picking out shortist corpse lol evil. By the way borrow more shares to short and make the feasting bigger so enough for all punters to eat  lol.

Do u know where GIC get his $$$ from? Also, note that rights issue affect small time investor like u n me even if GIC subscribed all of the rights issues.
