KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- AmFraser Securities Pte Ltd has clarified that its clients had gross exposure of about RM120 million to three Singapore-listed stocks namely Blumont Group Ltd, LionGold Corp Ltd and Asiasons Capital Ltd.
The Singapore brokerage unit of AMMB Holdings Bhd said the recovery efforts were progressing to expectations and it had proactively provided RM40 million, well in advance of regulatory requirements.
" We are comfortable with our current position and have retained our financial guidance for financial year 2014," it said in a statement Tuesday.
AmFraser was responding to a news report speculating the brokerage to have exposure of close to S$150 million (RM384.61 million) of financing for trades related to the three stocks on the recent fallout from a penny stock crash.
According to the news report, AmFraser Securities might have been impacted after Singapore broker firms had imposed new restrictions on an extended list of penny shares listed in the Singapore bourse.
