I was back since yesterday but was really tired from all that snorkelling so I went to bed.

 

Wah... if the "SGH" indicator is true, I really hate to tell you guys this but I'm going off on another small trip in 2 weeks time. hehehehe.....
 

 

sporeguy, you are right. It's a cantonese expression and it does mean "your mother". This looks like a lesson in dialect.

 

niama is in Cantonese. nia means "your" ma means "mother". Niama is usually used to scold ppl without the 4-letter words behind.

You in Cantonese is "nlay"

You in Hokkien is "li" or "lu" depending where the Hokkien is spoken. "Li" is used in Southern Malaya (South of KL), Spore, Taiwan. while "lu" is used in north of KL and Indonesia.

 

iPunter, then you have to learn the opposite of "si peh ho" is "si peh pai".

BTW "si peh" means "dead father" Can anyone please correct me?

hi,  Asterisk!!! you are back!! from meditation..? aiyoh... since you were away.. hor...  there is a new colorful element that surfaced by the name of Rogue.. i called him RT... and he has introduced new vocabulary that i think would make even grandmothers like Choo hian blush... i think "nia..xx " although means grandmother, for hokien pengs and ppl of koolie keng (first immigration) tan kah kee's generation is the equivalent of  the "f" word used by the pomies.. it should be interpreted here however as a punctuation mark... not a verb....

That many forumers regard daily and weekly price-down wriggles as "corrections".

But personally, I didn't notice any 'correction' at all since the one which occurred at end-Feb/early Mar.

SGH  stands for SingaporeGal Holiday ....  the last time when she goes for holiday, the stock market corrects... so someone decided to call it a SGH indicator... and we all agreed....  now she is on holiday.. actually on cruise in Rendang Island... and the stock market did correct...

 

I haven't been keeping track of the Fellowship thread for a while.... I'm a bit lost on the terminology here.

 

What the heck is this SGH indicator? The only SGH I know is the Singapore General Hospital....
