excuse me i'm new here. i want to ask about buy, sell, sell contra, short sell in SGX stock market because it's a bit different from my country... i'm using DBSV right now...

i will post the photo after this.

what i want to ask :

1. if i buy and hold, will the stock deposited under my name ? or under DBSV name ?

2. if i want to sell the stock, which " sell" should i click when i want to sell my stock ? the " sell ONLY" or " sell contra" ??? What is the differences and different ??? because i don't want to borrow stock to sell the stock.

3. short sell. is it ok to do short sell or sell the stock if i don't have it ? for ex : i short sell XYZ stock, but i don't have any of those thing. what will happen ? is it same as borrowing ???

4. if i have XYZ stock and i do the short sell, what will happen ? 

Please can anyone help me explain this please...

Bro, I use this but also didn't subscribe. It's free but only provide 3 years historical data.

No problem, is never too late :). One question is when I told SC to look at the chart as " bird view" , my previous  post  is to explain this scenario of when STI having very MAJOR correction.. Those defensive stocks eventually bounce back from the lowest point. In the midst of this, you can even ride on the waves along the way while like what you mentioned, dividend as the added precaution.

I also always use  the term" nurtured" , any stocks need to be " nurtured" like a plant before it can be fruitful, Stock trading is very complex game, patience is number one.
One live example is SPH which I bought on 27 Sept 2013. At the time I got this, it never shown any signs of uptrend and any persons will feel this stock won't move. After 8 days today, it finally came through. And now my next plan will be looking on how to have an exit plan.

which will lead to... Support/Resistance one of the important element to gauge the exit/re-entry price if I want to do the trade on SPH after I sold of my initial batch.

 

Bro ST, agree 100% with what you said about checking the major shareholders and div yield of the target counter as an added precaution. I'm coming into a full circle. I first started by  buying bluechip counters. Then I saw that the blue chips didn't move much and when STI fell to 2650 a couple of years ago, I lost quite a bundle. Then I moved into pennies. No explanation and elaboration needed.

Now I'm thinking of focusing on lower-priced bluechip counters like CapMallAsia and some reits for short term play.  Though the rewards may be lesser than trading in pennies/micropennies, it's less risky and more appropriate for retirees like me who can't afford the high risk.

Star-Trader   star-trader      ( Date: 08-Oct-2013 15:16) Posted: Spss, Penny situation will always be there, one of the thing to check is who are the top shareholders of the particular stock, and  you will be surprise that this also will help to ensure that the stock doesn't tank down so much.. :) Eg: If you see those stockbrokers name, banks, etc etc.. part of the top shareholders, chances are they won't let the stock tank down so much as if so, they are shareholding also lose value, and everything will follow through.. Usually, I play on those that have sound dividends, just in case anything happens..I still have dividend to cover part of it and wait for the reversal.. I don't buy at Peak of course, that's why technical indicator come handy.. :) I will also get into the cycle if I see there is something come, eg of my now current play, MapletreeLog..If it doesn't move up according to my plan, I will get in another batch at the support level if it drops to that level, 1.04 as to ride the wave.. Anyway, DYODD.. In any of the 10 trading, if you can win a big 8 and loss a small 2, then you are successful. Star-Trader
