Morning bros and sis, last night Dow drop 159 points or 1.07%...
Haha I also saw it at 27 this morning but I went to queue at 26, didn't dare chase in this market. Did a few paper trades and all made money. Lol. Don't know if I should be glad that I'm disciplined to control myself or sad that I didn't had the guts to buy today hahaha. It's ok lah bro, market is always here. Will still have more opportunities coming. Huat ah!

For DBSvickers, if you want to contra, you can choose either one. For both accounts, contra gains will only be credited to your acc after t+3. But for cash acc, you won't have your money stuck, all you need to do is buy without forking out money and clear your contra holdings within the contra period. For cash upfront acc, your money will be stuck in the trading acc, and in the event that you decide not to buy, you still have to wait for 1-2 working days before your money will be transferred back to your savings acc. Since the savings on commission is minimal and you prefer liquidity I think cash acc would be a better option for you IMO.

Oh I see. So, is it better using contra or not ? Which one is the fastest to liquidate the money (without to wait till T+3) ?
Thank u very much qwertyuiop00 for your answers and help. : |

Hi there
1) if you click buy using cash account, it means you are buying on contra which after 3 days if you didn't sell off during contra period, you have to pay for the stocks. The stocks will then be under your name and in your cdp account. If you click buy using cash upfront account, it means you have to withdraw cash from your bank account and transfer it to the cash upfront trading account and pay for the stocks in advance, doing his allows you to enjoy a lower commission rate.
2) if you want to sell your stocks which you have just bought on contra using the cash account, click sell contra. However if you want to sell stocks which you already have in your cdp acc and not on contra, click sell only. If you want to sell your stocks which you have bought using your cash upfront acc, you just select cash upfront acc and click sell only, since there's no sell contra for cash upfront acc anyway.
3) if you want to short sell, click the short-sell option. Doesn't matter if you don't have the stock, as long as you cover back within the same day. However you are facing the risk of the stock requesting for trading halt anytime and if that happens, you might be liable for a 1000 fine and sgx will buy in for you at a higher price if the stock don't resume trading on the same day(somebody correct me if I'm wrong)
4) not too sure about this. Maybe somebody else can help
Hope the answers above will help to some extent :)

excuse me i'm new here. i want to ask about buy, sell, sell contra, short sell in SGX stock market because it's a bit different from my country... i'm using DBSV right now...
i will post the photo after this.
what i want to ask :
1. if i buy and hold, will the stock deposited under my name ? or under DBSV name ?
2. if i want to sell the stock, which " sell" should i click when i want to sell my stock ? the " sell ONLY" or " sell contra" ??? What is the differences and different ??? because i don't want to borrow stock to sell the stock.
3. short sell. is it ok to do short sell or sell the stock if i don't have it ? for ex : i short sell XYZ stock, but i don't have any of those thing. what will happen ? is it same as borrowing ???
4. if i have XYZ stock and i do the short sell, what will happen ?
Please can anyone help me explain this please...
