Wow, drinking abalone, amazing. Yah, without teeth, still can eat loh. I used to share lunch with a poor old guy at d kopitiam. He has no teeth, but he will peel the meat with hands n swallow together with rice.

AK is not loan shark, but people approaching me to borrow small $ for feeding n family's issue, normally I dun disappoint them. Just a small share of social work loh.

Patient investors may be rewarded too...
But maybe only after a few cycles (years) of big ups and  big downs.
Because they are very patient long-term investors who waited for the higher high.

By the way, when at last the profits are in, and there are no more teeth,
the abalone can be finely chopped and savoured just the same... hehehe... Smiley

Livermore is right... :)

Especially with centralised economies (a la the unabated bailouts), good old 'business cycles' as we know it simply will simply not exist anymore, since the business cycle is a phenomenon of a free market capitalist system... and everyone wants to be bailed out, not just the biggies.

Past thinking is no good against present or future circumstances... Smiley

SPC do not follow market flunctuation...do not serve the best grade of gasoline...do not follow the oil price index...based on what ground should peoples assume SPC is a good holding counter for the future? Any blue chip counter is a good holding counter for the future.

Don't assume SPC will always give good dividends and don't assume it can become another $8 stock. Circumstances change in the world.

hi everyone thanks for sharing honest insights and clarifications, much apprecaite.

for me as new to stock mkt, i use time horizon. i will accumulate SPC and just staying put and keep for 2 years, dont touch. my thinking is better than put money in bank and collect near zero interest, and by then got capital upside.

meantime just focus on gettinga  job. times v bad this round.

I think the focus should be securing job first before we ever think of investment.

I think it is good to give this a miss. Current India have been increasing alot of refinery capacity with recently a few annoucement of refinery start operating. this year. I think affect SPC as a long term business.

If India prove to be a stable and good refinery, it will gain more as India is nearer to europe and US compare to Singapore. Also i think india cheaper land and labour and transportation cost (geographical advantage) will start to affect SPC later down the road.. (Maybe in 2 years time)

The stock market is not a place to just 'put your money and let it grow'.

It can be a treacherous and merciless 'animal/beast' who will maul you till you are nothing and helpless.

Thus there's really so much more to learn about the stock market than commonly thought!
