SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Recent flooding in Australia means that coal exports from Queensland could be around 15 million tonnes less than previously forecast, according to the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences. This would represent a cut in export earnings of between 2 billion and 2.5 billion Australian dollars ($2 billion to $2.5 billion), the bureau said. " However, it is anticipated that coal prices could be settled at higher levels, partially offsetting the adverse impact on coal industry revenues," it added. The flooding is estimated to have reduced fiscal 2011 agricultural production by at least A$500 million to A$600 million, they said. The bureau noted that although prices have risen significantly for watermelons, sweet potatoes, broccoli and zucchini, impact on other fruit and vegetables is limited so far
