If you think 10.9% is hot, wait till you hear this. Driven by a building boom, China's economy grew a stunning 11.3% in the second quarter from a year ago, its fastest rate in a decade. This spurred speculation that Beijing will raise interest rates to cool the expansion.

Upcoming IPOs could drain liquidity from existing issues. China's no. 1 lender, ICBC, will list in HK and Shanghai, raising US$12b and US$3b respectively. It's expected to take place in Oct. There could be more selling.

Data shows China still growing rapidly despite measures to cool its economy. Looks like more measures are needed to prevent overheating. Shanghai index is down 84.227 pts or 4.84% to 1655.773. This is really putting selling pressure on China stocks here.

My China stock index for SGX-listed China stocks has risen >10% since 9 June. That is a significant bounce by any measure.

From TA point of view, China stocks are showing V-shaped chart patterns that portend trouble. V-shaped rebounds often signal late-stage trouble, breakdowns.

V-shaped bases occur when a stock falls sharply off its highs. After a few weeks it surges straight up from the bottom of its base, without taking the time to round out the bottom of the pattern. The resulting straight up-and-down action resembles a V.

Such patterns tend to fail more often than rounded, cup-shaped bases. A V-pattern implies that the stock isn't going through the healthy consolidation process needed to prep for a breakout. While institutional investors may be selling early in the base, retail investors may be jumping in to try and catch a big name at what they see as a bargain price. Subsequent breakouts often fail.

While smooth-looking first- and second-stage bases tend to have better success, late-stage bases fail more frequently, often tracing these kinds of jagged shapes.

Most China's Stocks had rebounded very strongly over the last 2 weeks.  My take is that, the technical correction should end very soon. Punters need to find excuses to throw and short.  And may investors caught during the last correction is still try to get out, and the opportunity is here now and if correction start again, it may drop even faster than the last time!

thanks for all the inputs.... looks like the general sentiment for China stocks is not too good...

I don't think Uncle Kim in N Korea made things better for China stocks as well with his missile firing.
