Well... there will develop a black market to overcome the fuel ban. IT is easy to have a black market in places like Johore Bahru. It is difficult to implement the law faithfully there where the Police is less than clean. A couple of dollars and you would get the discounted fuel in the black market. Won't be surprised  legitimate businesses might also "brunja" the law enforcers to close one eye while filling up foreign cars.

FUEL BAN: JB kiosks loss of business (look like it go to lose alot , much more then they wanted). Expect at least half to 2/3 business down within the arc on food, oil entertianment, accessories, retails, wholesales, even their factory may be effected or shift out and Senai airport business down. lomg term effect may be felt immediately on Iskanda Development, sitting next to Gelang Patah

Forming an arc. From North Pontian kechil to North Kg senenak and Bt batu to Kangkar Dohol, beyond Kota Tinggi and to Kg Sedili Kechil and beyond the shore of Desaru.

This is the real thing...d real reason why...!!! ???.

second finance minister, Nor Mohamed Yakcop was quoted saying by The Star daily.

"The prime minister will announce it," he said at a press conference in Singapore without elaborating.

The scheme is expected to be introduced in a few months.

In morning Asian trade, New York's main oil futures contract, light sweet crude for July delivery was at 131.07 dollars per barrel after hitting new record highs of more than 135 dollars a barrel earlier this week.

Malaysia, a net oil exporter, pays a hefty fuel subsidy of 45 billion ringgit (14 billion dollars) based on the oil price of 120 dollars per barrel.

The government's total subsidy bill, including food items, has already hit the 50 billion ringgit mark for the year, and spiralling fuel prices will stretch government spending further, Nor Mohamed said according to state Bernama news agency.

"If we do not do anything, we will have to spend more on subsidy but we are definitely doing something," he said.

Malaysia's state oil giant, Petronas has come under fire by the opposition for not using more of its oil revenues to increase subsidies but Nor Mohamed said the country has to stop relying on Petronas.

"The income from Petronas is not going to last forever. By 2014, we may be a net importer of oil. This money has to be used in income-generating activities so that when we have no oil, we still have income from these investments," he said.

It is The March Of Times and Time changes everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Colonization and Colonialism over times changed the whole landscape - The British, The Spanish, The Dutch and the Portuguese were in control over these territories. All the chiefs or Sultans or whatevers were happy just to be Chief-Not-In-Command or be 6-ft-underground!

NOTHING IS ABSOLUTE..... and things could change over times!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS!

So who claim who???, or even our little island seen memorial time. Since memorial time Johor or maybe KL under Mati time 1 2 claim.....then it's better to start goback, goback, goback n replay again. Meanwhile JB may starting, slowly becoming a more sleepish town and not a city within 50km. unless they shift their famous goal post.

Can his great, great grand, very grand generation strat claimng......?.

Under his rule the new kingdom, Majapahit, successfully controlled Bali, Madura, Malayu, and Tanjungpura. The power of Majapahit reached its height in the mid-14th century under the leadership of King Hayam Wuruk and his prime minister, Gajah Mada. Some scholars have argued that the territories of Majapahit covered present-day Indonesia and part of Malaysia, but others maintain that its territory was confined to eastern Java and Bali. Nonetheless, Majapahit became a significant power in the region, maintaining regular relations with China, Champa, Cambodia, Annam, and Siam (Thailand).

How many years back...err about oni 500 years. Going Bali for holiday where they practice Hinduism...?. Ya

According to the book of Nagarakertagama pupuh (canto) XIII and XIV mentioned several states in Sumatra, Malay Peninsula, Borneo, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara islands, Maluku, New Guinea, and some parts of Philippines islands as under Majapahit realm of power. This source mentioned of Majapahit expansions has marked the greatest extent of Majapahit empire.

For Indonesians in later centuries, Majapahit became a symbol of past greatness. The Islamic sultanates of Demak, Pajang, and Mataram sought to establish their legitimacy in relation to the Majapahit.[20] The Demak claimed a line of succession through Kertabumi, as its founder, Raden Patah, in court chronicles was said to be the son of Kertabumi with Putri Cina, a Chinese princess, who had been sent away before her son was born.[13] Sultan Agung's conquest of Wirasaba in 1615, led by the sultan himself, may have had such importance as it was the location of the Majapahit capital.[21] Central Javanese palaces have traditions and genealogy that attempt to prove links back to the Majapahit royal lines - usually in the form of a grave as a vital link in Java - where legitimacy is enhanced by such a connection.[citation needed] Bali in particular was heavily influenced by Majapahit and they consider themselves to be the true heirs of the kingdom.[15]

Can goback to Majahpahit time, Aceh can oso claim Singapura, so is Dutch or mayB since Aceh is part of Indonisia, can Indonisia claim us???.

May I give you one good example about sea territory. Look at Falkland island. It is much much further from UK (one in northern hemisphere and one one the southern tip of South Americal) than Petra Branca is from Singapore... Falkland island belongs to UK... Another example, Gilbrater, it is on the southern tip of Iberia peninsula, it also belongs to UK. Distance is never a problem! (sorry if this appears rude)

Singapore was part of Johor? That was pre Stamford Raffles time. Ever since, we were never part of Johor. We were part of the East India which belonged to UK. We did merge with Malaysia for a brief period of 3 years.. they kicked us out, remember?

I am not worried about the subsidies part. I am only concerned that if you travel across Johor for shopping and happen to run out of petrol then can't even buy at non subsidies price? How to come home like that?

And also it was theirs just as Singapore was theirs until the handover because that Johor's faithful letter to us. It wasn't even under our sea territory. If you follow the verdict closely. All other claims was rejected except the letter. They will feel the pain of the lost because of their own mistake. But they have to do something to flex their muscles.

yep u r right...i was also thinking of the petrol kiosks at the Tuas 2nd link there...and also the Shell petrol at Woodlands-Johor causeway...everytime filled with Singapore cars...now.....

the fengshui has changed

No issue loh. Your 3/4 tank full of petrol can last to and flo Kulai alrdy. Unless you coming back fr North, then remember to top up your tank before entering Kulai and further south loh.

Still got loop holes lah:

1. Siphon out fr your Msia fr or relative car loh, n pay them accordingly. 1 qtr tank costs around RM 20.00. But not worth that effort.

2. New trade created for car washing depot, they sell petrol in container, with discount, specially for spore cars going there for washing. But you may not distinguish its Octane 92 or 98. For contingency leow loh.

Generally, still not a problem for those who can affort to go to JB for funs and shopping. Less business for the petrol kiosks withing the radii and shops and stalls within the vicinity of the kiosks, esp those stop over area at high way. The stop over place at 2nd Link kena telok telok leow. Two petrol kiosks to wait for Msia cars. Smiley
