Can anyone elaborate on the implications of the proposed unit buy back?

What are the pros and cons for this deal?

Thanks

Me not a unit-holder of MMP but have a kind comment to pass to those who are attending MMP's EGM on Jan 8, 2008.

Units bought back kept as treasury units. Can be used for many stipulated purposes. One of it is to reward employee with stock option scheme. Make sure to squeeze the Macquarie Bugger to freeze any issuing of stock options for at least the next 12 months after commencement of unit-buyback. If the Bugger cannot promise, then vote against the buyback scheme. Exercise your votes wisely at the EGM.

Sayonara.

Likely because of the share buyback anticipation.

First of its kind for REIT.

Wow. If that is the case, isn't that better?

Maybe only better for me, but not for you. Smiley

But its more likely that they will sell than they will buy.

Who knows, the 274 lots are sold down by them.. haha..

Goldman Sachs has initiated coverage, but gave rating of Neutral.

That's why not much price movement.

What 10% yield? I don't see it. The last three quarters' dividend add up to be 0.0451 and divide 0.75 is about 0.0601 which give you 6.01% yield against 1 dollar.

Goldman Sachs has initiated coverage on this counter.

Lookout for some reaction to the share price.

The CEO of CapitaLand said this : "REITs are ultimately a real-estate game".

No different from property plays. Where the property bellwethers go, so go the rests.

Similar to Babcock. At current price, it can offer you more than 10% yield!

And also, look at MacCookPSF, that is the most stable, high yield counter I ever seen and held. Seem like no turmoil can move this.

Agree with you! Soh.

I have the same feeling since a few weeks back, am still waiting for prices to drop further. When the  yield >7-8% will buy in more.

In this current climate quite a few BB including fund houses are unloading. It is not only restricted to MMP alone. Take a look at other REIT and they are dropping like flies. MIIF, Cambridge, Allco, PLife etc etc etc. Seems the US credit woes is affecting those foreign institutions and they are liquidating their Spore listed REIT to raise some cash. If you all still have faith in the counters, this is the time to slowly buy in. Based on current price the dividend yield is going up and up. The down to this approach is will it drop further isn't it? That is why stocks investing is so risky.
