it's acquisition of brookstone didn't pan out as well. Brookstone is its money losing unit. As Brookstone is a gift shop chain, its strength is usually in the 4th qtr of the year, near thanksgiving and christmas seasons.

Firstly, that is 6 months away. Anything can happen.

Secondly, the widespread talk about US recession/slow down towards the end of 2007. If that happens, the traditionally strong qtr from brookstone will not materialise. (of course, the economy may strength on the contrary... no one can tell!)

it's time for OSIM to do some side business, such as property investment ... health care products can no longer help OSIM further as the fake products, competition is way too high...

from Reuters::

SINGAPORE, April 26 (Reuters) - Credit Suisse has cut Osim International (OSIL.SI: QuoteProfile , Research) to "underperform" from "outperform" and slashed its share price target to S$0.75 from S$1.20 after the Singapore massage chair maker posted weaker-than-expected quarterly results.

"Management has explicitly stated that it will only provide profit guidance once industry consolidation is over, and we are sceptical that OSIM will return to its historical growth trajectory anytime soon," Credit Suisse analyst Su Tye Chua said in a note to investors.

"Near term, this phase of industry consolidation will continue be a drag on sales, while a change in tack toward adopting a more prudent marketing strategy offers cost benefits, but does little for the longer term in raising OSIM's profile onto the global stage, where the company clearly aims to be."

From the last experience, when profit guildance given that profit will reduce by 15%.

Immediately the price from 1.30 drop till 1.02 follow by the drop below 90cents.

Now the profit swing to lost of 17m, the price will definitely drop further as compared to last experience.

So I think the price will drop below 70 cents by today closed.

I agree with scotty. Will the big players move in? Does osim still have the potential to be half as good as b4? These are the qns to think abt.

I think mainly retail players dumping the stock. The volumes not very large.

with the moat getting narrow with more competitors coming onboard, more challenges ahead.

Guess not. Big players waiting quietly to enter out of a sudden as usual. They once shot buy few bids so have to wait for the right time. Think they will make a big loss if they unload too much today

zhirong, short term stock, definitely. as an FA stock, perhaps wiser to wait til the china problem is cleared up and direction is clearer.

pls note that short term does not equal shorting tho. you can buy long position for short term. ie, quick punt on upside.

likely to be volatile.

So whats the take on osim future? Should just focus on short term and short or buy and hold for the long term? Think the views are mixed.
