FYI Only:  Foreland primarily mfg & sells fabrics to manufacturers of sports, leisure & business apparel who export products to overseas mkts in EU, US & the Middle East. In China, it sells fabrics to textile traders. The firm is vertically integrated and equipped to carry out processes from weaving, dyeing and coating to the finishing of fabrics, and sells most of its products under its own Fulian brand. It has technology partnerships with various firms to develop particular functional fabrics. For example, it is developing a chlorine-resistant fabric with Bayer, a variety of oil-resistant and combustion-resistant fabrics with Ciba, and also has a research partnership with the Taiwan Textile Research Institute. Sales reached 150.4 million yuan (S$29.6 million) for the year ended December 2005, up from 80.8 million yuan for FY2004 and 43.3 million yuan for FY2003. Net profits for the corresponding periods were 30.9 million yuan in FY2005, 18 million yuan in FY2004 and 4.2 million yuan in FY2003. Foreland expects revenues for the year ended December 2006 to grow 109 per cent year on year to 314.6 million yuan, and net profit to grow 143 per cent to75.1mil yuan. The group's results for the first nine months of 2006 already show substantial improvement from the comparable figures the year before. Going forward, the group intends to launch several new functional fabrics in 2007, such as anti-insect, warm feel and anti-radiation fabrics. It also plans to significantly add capacity - for the first nine months of 2006 this stood at 23.5 million yards - by bringing on an additional 28.4 million yards of annual capacity by the fourth quarter of FY2007. To this end, the group is buying an 80,000-sq-metre piece of land at Jinjiang City for a new facility, which will also have a wastewater treatment and recycling plant. (See Prospectus pg 34/35) |
