Australian wildfire survivors suing Singapore-owned power firm |
Australian wildfire survivors who say a downed power line sparked one of the blazes, have reportedly launched a lawsuit against a Singapore-owned electricity firm. The Age newspaper said residents in the town of Kinglake are filing a class action suit against SP Ausnet and the Victoria state government. They claim that the power line set off a fire near the town that killed at least 100 people. The fire at Kinglake, about 50 kilometres north of Melbourne, was one of the most ferocious to sweep through Victoria state last week. SP Ausnet, part of the Singapore Power Group, has refused to comment directly on the lawsuit. In a statement, the company said its priority is restoring power to fire-affected areas as quickly as possible. |
liao liao...

on SGX website - announcement by SP Ausnet - bush fires in Australia affected some of its electricity transmission systems.
This stock has been giving me good dividends though the price has fallen much below what I paid for earlier in the year. Possibly the weak Aussie dollar had an impact on its price. Tho the stochastic is oversold, the MACD signal is still downtrending. Hence I think it will head a little lower. I may consider picking some more at around $1.20 if the indicators improve.
Yeah, looks like a good dividend-yield stock (so far).
Last price done at $1.26 (record low)
Wonder why dropping so much?
What are the downside risks ?
Appreciate some advice / comments. Thanks
SP Ausnet has been a good counter for dividend play. Looking to enter soon.
It is definitely a good buy now at 1.38, with current very bearish market. It is good to be vested in a company like SPAusnet which gives out stable income of 10% yield.
Vested!
pls kindly let us know... "What does the rules of investment says about co borrowing money to (re)finance debt?"
Not vested.
Borrow money to finance debt. What does the rules of investment says about co borrowing money to finance debt? tsk tsk tsk.
SINGAPORE, June 10 - Australian power firm SP AusNet said on Tuesday it is looking to borrow another A$320 million this year to refinance its debts.
The firm, which signed a A$1.55 billion loan with a syndicate of 12 banks in February, told Reuters it will focus on organic growth, after dropping plans in December to pay parent Singapore Power A$8.3 billion for the assets of delisted Australian energy firm Alinta due to concerns over high borrowing costs.
"We won't be relooking at those assets as we speak. However we've agreed to look at ways for the two organisations to co-operate," Nino Ficca, managing director of dual-listed SP Ausnet, said in an interview in Singapore.
The company owns and operates power transmission networks in Victoria state.

history low is at price 1.42 on May 26, 2006 , good good, can collect tomorrow ~
those who bet this counter on dividend actually make a small loss compared to buying the counter today.
the EX dividend date is Dec 3,
purchase price is 1.62, with price now 1.48 , difference is 12.34% , the dividend not even hit 10% , in other words, BUYING NOW is a bargain price.
good question, i as well wonder what offer is that.... but please, no right share again! if so, price down again for sure.
Did anybody know what did SP AusNet offer? Right share?
