Aside from the fall in the USA market on Friday, perhaps the institutions are trying to sell down the market ahead of the reporting season.

Most blue chips and other stock are expected to report favourable results for FY2006.

hmmm. the STI seems likely to retreat below 3000 points anytime soon. maybe, the weather is very nice and cool, so the bulls are sleepy.

i am sure it must be tired after jumping over the moon.

It may quite possibly turn out to be global money vs local money.

As the correction has been taken place along the bull trend, I think it is unlikely a crash could be happened in the near future.

Can still consider to enter during correction phase.

We should still enjoy the 'Capricorn Effect' for now .... STI should be GREEN today after US market closed GREEN last nite.

Let's see if SGX switches play to TECH stocks from oil and commodities stocks too today (like US market last nite).

Oil closed below $56 a barrel and copper fell .....

Market is very hot. Volume is 3374.45m and value is $2107.36m. Quite worrying. May have a correction within the next few weeks to months.

Business Times 4 Jan 07 - Mark Mobius bullish about Singapore stocks.

Emerging market guru Mark Mobius has a bullish view on the Singapore market in the coming year. Dr Mobius - manageing director of Templeton Assest Management, which overseas about US$30 billion in emerging market equities - said that Singapore's market looks "very good", in view of the "excellent companies" and favourable economic climate.

"In Singapore, the consumer sectors are most interetsing and that includes manufacturers of consumer products as well ss consumer banking." Dr Mobius said. He did say that Templeton had over US$600 million invested in Singapore, adding that the investment outlook in the region is also "very good" this year, especially the consumer and commodities sectors, which he thinks will fare especially well.

"But we must remember that the stock market is a leading indicator, so good economic conditions going forward do not necessarily mean high stock prices," he said.

On the outlook of Japan, Dr Mobius was also bullish. We can't expect the kind of economic growth that China and India are experiencing because Japan is already a huge economy and we are starting from a large base."

For 2007, Dr Mobius said that his company would continue to focus on emerging markets worldwide, including Thailand, China, South Korea, Russia, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Poland and Turkey.

US futures red now, if this continues chances are the market will open lower tonight (European bourses too). With two major reports along the way on Thurs and Fri, market can be volatile.

From the risk-reward perspective, I will wait for correction before fishing for opportunities. Correction is long due and opportunities will emerge.

BTW do you know that the last two bull markets peaked around 3 & 4 Jan in the new year?
