Midas jumps on China metro  contract

Shares of Singapore-listed Midas Holdings, a supplier of aluminium components for trains, jumped more than 5% on Friday after its joint venture company won a 526.9 million yuan ($105 million) commuter rail contract in China.

By 9:14 a.m., Midas shares were up 5.3% at $0.40, outperforming the broader Straits Times Index, which was 0.6% higher.

Midas said on Thursday Nanjing SR Puzhen Rail Transport, in which it has a 32.5% equity stake, will supply 23 train sets to the Suzhou Metro Line 2 Project in China. Delivery is expected from 2013 to 2014.

“This development highlights the improving sentiment for China's metro industry, following the Shanghai metro train crash in September 2011,” OCBC Investment Research said in a report.

OCBC estimated the latest contract would boost NPRT's order book to around 7.5 billion yuan.

If u are a TA detractor, plse just ignore n refrain from peeping at my chart posting n start making unconstructive comments and plse do not be so childish or lunatic as to abuse the rating system by intentionally rating it as "bad post", this is not cursing but Buddhism beliefs tat intentional bad deeds will accumulate for yourself and possibly your next generation, "bad" karma for your "bad" deeds.

If u think it is a bad post, then be constructive and kindly post your TA for sharing. This is only my view n I may be right or wrong, so dyodd and SOBAYOR.

I heard that during the bygone years of S-Chip fearing saga, our SGX were rather inapt in allowing anyone to list their s-chips. As many as had come as many were given listing. No discretion needed and subsequently so many failed.

In the course of events following, many good S-Chips were then dumped or neglected until this time when possible changes of fundamentals make them more sound than yester-years. China power is contributing to better and higher corporate managements, we can say that.

YingLi and Midas were probably the victims and played down indiscriminately by investors.

The two counters will have much to pick up from now. Should see them rallying soon.

My opinion need not be right, just exploring reasons.

S chip, I think Ying li is the best with RNAV around 87 cents compared to current price.....Chongqing and chengdu which is in sichuan is growing at a rate twice of china gdp which their properties will apprecaite in tines to come since they are currently tier 2 or 3........

What is Midas PE and order book currently? It seems to me that as and when there are accidents in china involving trains, this guy will be sold off.....not too sure, but correct me if I am wrong.....
