if the upside not much n unknown downside better to let go.
1lot upside cant be 1k but downside with cap reduction (after selling APB, FNN nothing glamore liao) downside unknown so leave it.
this type of scenerio unless u buy way ahead otherwise no play esp u buy when all the news are out with everything factored in can be risky.
peace of mind better.
My view for this stock is really unpredictable.. But I don't think it can be up to 8.88 as F&N is already proposed for capital reduction. And in the future not really sure for thbev action can have significant impact to F&N share price..but who knows it might will.. Just wait and see

for those planning to enter the mkt to purchase F/N at current price of let say 8.35 thinking that it will give u $$$ value at 8.50 (seem obvious advantage) got to do ur Maths carefully.
the real beneficiaries in such situation are those long term shareholder tat bought at low price n enjoy div since then.
the value of F/N is in its APB once this is sold it become mores like a property counter(juvenile) n the 2/3 amount of share u bought earlier at 8.35+$from capital reduction, is it worth the value? or will F/N share price can hold above $8? in fact if u do the maths u will notice tat the price should not drop below ~$8.27.
so be real careful hor......

The management could have given $2.83 per share as special dividend or capital repayment as opposed to cancelling one third of shareholding with $8.50.  The financial effect would be exactly the same except shareholders would continue to hold the same number of shares instead of being forced to hold odd lots if the shareholdings are not in multiple of 3000.
The share price would probably react very differently if they had not chosen the cancellation of shares at 8.50.  Now, it seems silly to buy F& N at any price above 8.50 as one third will be cancelled with 8.50 per share capital repayment.
This will also make the Thai slightly happier as everyone knows that  he bought the bulk of his F& N shares at $8.88 (again, the financial effect is the same but more about face).

FRASER and Neave (F& N) has proposed a payout of $4 billion to shareholders via a capital reduction, representing 84 per cent of its potential gain from selling its Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) interest and other assets to Heineken.
The move - which involves cancelling one share for every three shares held - may influence how F& N shareholders vote on the deal with Heineken. F& N will pay $8.50 for each share cancelled. This means a shareholder with 1,000 shares will end up with 670 shares and receive $2,805 in cash.
The announcement came last night, after F& N's share price jumped 1.6 per cent to close at $8.45 on the back of a major block trade in the counter. Market watchers pointed to Thai Beverage - F& N's largest shareholder with a stake of 26.4 per cent - as the possible buyer.
F& N has a 39.7 per cent interest in APB and its board agreed last week to sell that stake to Heineken for $5.4 billion, or $53 a share. F& N will also let go of interests in other assets, taking the total deal value to $5.59 billion.

$8.50 for every share
1 share to be cancelled for every 3 shares
shareholder with 1000 shares will get back $2850 cash, & left only 670 shares after cap exe
Just wondering if the price after ex will increase by 1.5 times???
FNN price is likely to be kept at or slightly below $8.50 for a purpose. The fast fast  action   the company is doing suggest that the sale of APB to Henieken is sealed and chopped, with the blessing from ThaiBev certainly.   Wtih the capital reduction, our Thai bev will have enough returned cash to mount a buyout of a lesser heavyweitght FNN as a whole. This capital reduction also must have thaibev`s blessing too.    Everything is happening so fast and well coordinated suggest that they are very well planned   , activated in  phrases, quite similar to military action.
FNN SGX statement last night indicated that the proposed capital reduction allow for near and medium term corporate action...go read the statement carefully.  More copr. action will surface so keep your shares and rides the profit.
