after Fukushima, I think governments everywhere have no choice but to encourage more wind farms and other renewable energies... especially if they are concerned about public opinion. The impact may not be immediate but if you're vested for the medium to longer term, it's probably really good news for companies like REAG. In the short term, even though someone bought 1030 lots at 21.5 cents, from what I've observed, this counter can be quite volatile.

Chinese official says Japan’s nuclear crisis will affect China’s atomic generation plans

CANBERRA, Australia — China’s rapid construction plans for nuclear generators will be affected by Japan’s radiation crisis, but atomic power will be an essential supplier of the nation’s burgeoning energy needs in the future, an official said Wednesday.

Chinese climate change envoy Xie Zhenhua said China’s nuclear power rollout was under review in response to the unfolding emergency at Japan’s crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant, which is leaking radiation following a massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11.

“I believe this accident will have some impact on the development of nuclear power not only in China, but also the rest of the world,” Xie told reporters at a bilateral climate change policy forum in Australia’s capital.

“I think that the nuclear development plan of China will be affected to a certain extent,” he added, without elaborating.

They have managed to dispose off their old business . I think is some kind of fastening business. The new company will take over their debt obligations. They are now 100% into wind energy...

I think it may be more upside potential looking at the TA side..

LTS shall be responsible in procuring the full release and forever discharge of the debt obligations. We view the development positively as REAG has marched another step closer towards disposing a legacy business. Going forward, REAG will be able to focus more on its wind energy related businesses: 1) wind farm equipment manufacturing, 2) wind farm Engineering, Procurement, and 3) Construction (EPC), and wind farm investments. Maintain BUY with TP of S$0.36.

Before buying into S-chips,    do we know or do we   scrutinise WHO ARE THE persons running the company, Who are they, who are the major shareholders and are they able to grow the company.  Some genius like those holders of PHD, can study, but, cant run the company.

SINGAPORE, 31 January 2011

http://www.ecoworld.com/energy-fuels/chinas-renewable-energy.html

China’s government plans for renewable energy generation to meet 15% of the country’s growing energy needs by 2020. Renewable energy and energy efficiency look set for a boost as Beijing authorities have now outlined plans to diversify their energy resources in the face of continued price rises, pollution concerns and China’s unquenchable fuel and electricity demands. In its “alternative oil strategy,” which is part of the China’s 2006-2010 Five-Year Plan, Beijing has called for a doubling in renewable energy generation to 15% of the country’s needs by 2020. The target is in line with a new renewable energy law requiring grid operators to purchase resources from renewable energy producers. The law, which came into effect in January, also offers financial incentives to foster renewable energy development, including discounted lending and a range of tax breaks. Of the main renewables, wind power is tipped to have the most potential. Professor Wang Weichang, an energy expert at Tsinghua University in Beijing, predicted wind was on course to supplant hydro as the country’s second-largest electricity source, behind coal. Wang said China has the ability to generate up to 100 gigawatts, or 20% of current national capacity.

REA Group is the only such listed business on the Singapore Exchange currently. REA Group’s JV partner is China Datang Corporation Renewable, China’s largest state-owned power operator. Powered by Government stimulus, China’s wind power capacity has surged from 6 GW in 2007 to 26 GW in 2009. The Chinese Government’s target is 150 GW by 2020.  In addition, wind farms pay no income tax for the first 3 years and 50% of the taxable income in the subsequent two years.

Renewable Energy Asia Group (亚 洲 新 能 源 集 团 ) has received the go-ahead from the government of Inner Mongolia, for the construction of a 10-megawatt (MW) solar energy farm. The solar energy farm is part of the 285MW Green Energy Park concession in Zhenglanqi, Inner Mongolia, secured by REA Group last May. In addition to the solar energy farm, the Company will develop a 250MW wind farm, and a 25MW bio-fuel plant in the Park in phases. In recent years, China has demonstrated strong commitment in reducing its reliance on environmentally harmful fossil fuels with key laws and regulations. The country is planning to pump in some RMB5 trillion in investments between 2011 and 2020, to promote the development of its renewable energy industries as part of its 12th and 13th Five-Year Plan.

i think its the market we are in, frm the article it say renewable energy stock in S& P500 rise now, dunno read from where, also say china datang rise.

Which make sense, since ppl are starting to see the danger of nuclear power, and should be seeing hte value of renewable energy, thats y the rise in price. But i guess Singaporeans are just kiasi and plus paranoia with china stocks, thats y this stock nv rise... haizzz when will we start seeing the value of a gem.

Does not matter. It's not about what the company is promising later. It's what the market is running from. Right now, very damn thing. So, only buy in if you are sure running is over, and that the company in question will still be around in a year.

A statement released by the China's State Council:

" We will temporarily suspend approval of nuclear power projects, including those in the preliminary stages of development.

We must fully grasp the importance and urgency of nuclear safety, and development of nuclear power must make safety the top priority.

Any hazards must be thoroughly dealt with, and those that do not conform to safety standards must immediately cease construction."

To me, Green renewable energy is the best energy nature can give us. If we force nature to give energy like nuclear, someday nature will take us.
