CKS, totally agree with you that SPC is still "CHEAP" at $7. I have just taken new position at $6.45, missed the morning drop to $6.35. Intend to hold these batch for long. Looks like Kilroy shd be in by now!...hahaha! Yeah you win some, you lose some. Good luck! Cheers.

Singapore Petroleum Company now expects the first oil to start flowing from its Indonesian Oyong field in September after equipment delays, chief executive Koh Ban Heng said yesterday. He was responding to a BT query on whether the timeline had slipped from the last-indicated June production date. SPC indicated in its Q2 results statement on Wednesday that 'first oil production from Oyong is now targeted to be in H2'. Oyong, in which SPC has a 40 per cent interest, was originally slated to start producing oil in mid-2006, which means it is already more than a year late. The problem has been securing and mobilising the production barge amid the tight rig market.

no sweat... idesa168.. you win some you lose some leh...  I think it will certainly recover.. should have waited a day.. but what to do.. live is like that..

agree with you excellent opportunity to buy now... the earlier SPC 5.5% down was following the exxon mobil counter in Dow down by 5% yesterday.. this " logic " is just short thinking.. and does not see SPC fundamentals (SPC is not the same as Exxon).. even DBSV price it at 7.00 and that already is ridiculously low price for the stock...

A word of encouragement. I hope all don't gloom over the sea of red. See it as oppotunity to collect at lower price. Attractive counters are F&N, SembCorp Ind, SMRT & SPC. This is the time you can get a share which you would not be able to own just a couple of days ago. Cheers! CKS, I sorry about your holding at 6.60.

wow...$10! We have another believer of $10 here. I think I am the only one who valued SPC at $9.00, here Lynn believes that SPC is worth $10. It's possible to reach $12 when all E&P are successful and starts to contribute oil. E&P margin is very high.

Oil price at US$77, SPC is now $6.80.

Do you see oil price will go back to US$40 or SPC to $4.00? Or do you see oil price going to US$100. If so, then buy SPC, as it will reach $10.

Congratulation CKS, the overnight oil price is up 90¢ at US$77. We should see SPC touching $7.00 again in the morning. And hope it stays there for the rest of the day. I will be like Kilroy, contented to watch you make the $$ at the side line. Dow Jones is down -180pts now, should see STI dropping further. Maybe we can bottom fish tomorrow. Shall see! Cheers!

Hey CKS, at 6.55SGD a piece the price STILL dont look attractive to me so I didnt buy any. I really need a drastic event to get any price down to a max fear factor level to buy.  At the mean time, I will just be contented to watch you make your $$$.

I saw the 6.55, but no guts to get in. If not it's a gd pocket $$. I suspect SPC will yo-yo between 6.50-7.00 range for this coming weeks before charging. Need to shake off the weaker ones. Good luck to your new position. I will see if there is opportunity tomorrow. Made some today, but always remind myself, not everyday is Sunday. Be nimble! Cheers!

If you realised , no BB are in the game. All are quicktime punters. 20 lots in, 20 lots out. In between, made 10¢, $1000 for a couple of minutes work. Easy $$.

Did I said SPC not for short term? Getting very volatile these few days, SPC is a paradise for the short term punters. Average 30¢-45¢ a day of fluctuation....Kilroy, I like your joke...wink**. CKS, are u gonna load up more?

Hi Eagle....retail business (petrol kiosk) at SPC is a very small percentage. Their core business is still Refinery. Hence Refining margin is important to them. They are into exploration which is yet to bear fruit. The margin in exploration (Kakap field) is much higher, I think in the range of 64% in the latest quarter report. The region's oil counter is about 12X the most. So SPC will not hit 17X. That will make all of us very happy if it comes true....lol! But who know, things may change. About merger with CAO...mmm...good lah. Merge with Chevron (Clatex) even better...hehehe! Don't care who they merge with, as far as the share price hit $12.00, we don't care...lol! Cheers. Happy trading, back to work.

I happen to need a defensive oil counter in my portfolio and SPC fits the bill, a low PE bluechip, Agreed with 168 that this fellow is not for short-term players but dont think there will be a gradual landslide as 168's kind caution. Smiley

Market now ave 17X PE, think SPC valuation is attractive as COE dips more cars = more domestic petrol consumption, and expecting population to surge to 6M...Smiley

Anytime a good news, imagine: M&A with CAO, exploration success or alliance with oil giants could see this baby in the 17X PE league...Smiley
