Dont mention it choohian.

Just sharing things I know. U will still have to check out their latest promotion.

Your hubby should be receiving letters from ST to ask him to recontract or sign up new packages.

choohian,

Personally, I think SH should be more suitable for u as the cable TV will be with u for long. Once u take up the package then u will be in their hubber's club thingie. Got some discount entitlement. But once got power outage, then the phone line cant use liao loh.

Check with their current promotion.

Hehe Fairygal,

No need to threaten them. Just tell them u are still considering because competitor is offering something more attractive.

Naturally they will give u something more than as advertised.

Thanks Fairygal, My broadbrand expired 2 months ago while I was in Canada. Overlooked. I am thinking of MIO where singtel ties up three in one package- residential phone, handphone and broadband. I have to check out as my husband's handphone ( under the Classic Plan) expires on 12th July. I am thinking of Starhub as we have SVC cable with them. Any advice?

Choohian,

Re the broadband, I think it depends on when you sign up as well. I read from somewhere that you actually have to ask them if they can give you a good package when expiring, or you threathen to go to competitor. Synnexo is right.  Sometimes they offer you a new modem, or something else. Check it out with them. 12 months and 24 months offer also differs.

choohian,

Mine is the normal 512kbps, free upgrade to 1Mbps plan. Think upon expiry of your current contract then ST will give u option to recontract at a lower price. Still have freebies...Smiley

synnexo, regarding your Singtel broad unlimited, you are paying $29.95/pm. Is that a student rate? I am paying $47 something for the same type of package.

As for the wine, i checked with a friend who bought 23 btls of Burgundy back. All good stuff, then when he declared, the customs officer told him only 10 litres. Then he was like panicking, which of the good stuff to forgo? (kinda like which hand to chop of dilemma) Anyway, the customs officer allowed him to count as 2 individuals because he was travelling with another companion.

Wow, Sun tan lotion a must ar? hmm, must buy now then, before GST increase...

Eastonbay,

Yes, I think I enjoyed more in Spain than other in Italy.

People in Spain are more friendly than in Italy.

Really alcohol there is so much cheaper than water. When I was in Pisa, I paid Euro2.30 for a 1.5L of water. Imagine that compare to a cup of ice cold beer which is about Euro1.50.

The smarter way, buy those 6 x 1.5L pack of water from the sundry shop which cost around Euro2.00 - 3.00, depends on the brand. But what the heck about the price, just take the cheapest & drink loh.

Fairygal,

The USB 2.0 modem support Win Vista. Confirmed by the staff from M1. But am still using WinXP Pro.

My, Austria!!! Is it fun there? I plan to go there next year to watch the Euro2008.

RT,

For me, I still have my Singtel unlimited broadband at home. But am using the lowest price plan. Mainly I use it for web-surfing, checking email, msn & doing some research for my studies. Therefore, I dont really need a high download speed plan. Only paying S$29.95/mth.

The M1 broadband thingie is just for day-use & enjoy the freedom of mobility. Msn & checking email should be still ok. Cant use it to download huge files, like movies mentioned by baseerahmed. Is that suppose to be illegal?

As for tracking the monthly usage, the the device has a little memory tracking it & can be accessed from the menu when connected. But it can only track if u are using the same computer. The charges are based on the usage of data not the timing used. So, even if u have it connect whole day w/o surfing it is ok.

Just got back from Austria early last week after 16 days. One full week in Hallstatt and surrounding villages, Hallstatt as base. Another 6 days in Austrian Tyrol near Innsbruck, but feel time not enough!

Jerome, bring a water bottle.  The tap water in Switzerland and Austrian is potable, and one of the best quality in the world.  Even the water fountains on the streets or villages is drinkable. Very good quality.  Just don't mix up with those for the cows.

Bring sun-tan lotion.  It will be scorchingly hot!I am already chao-ta even with sun tan lotion.

Wine is so cheap cheap cheap. Drink there can already since you are not driving. Don't bother to order soft drinks at restaurant, 0.3 L glass of Fanta will cost you at least S$5. Beer will be a wiser choice.

Bring a recycling bag or a bag when you do grocery shopping.

Anyway, observed an influx of Chinese nationals and Indians visitors and settlers there. Not so many then during my last visit to Austria a few years ago.
