what do u mean 49.94 pts? i tot DJ dropped 119.15 to 7062.93 yest nite?

DJ shed merely 49.94 last Fri, AK guesses likely STI next Mon is going to lay flat. However, with so many finance related issues revealed in US last Fri, local banks performance next Mon, is a challenging one.
Among d 3 local bks, OUB has d lowest Tier 1 cap of 10.9%. Though, Dy Chairman claimed that at ds moment d coy would not offer R to strengthen d coy cap base. However, if d Tier 1 cap drops below 8%, then coy will consider next step of action.
Hence, small retailers are selective if they wanted to invest in banking sector. |

Yah, thats is another scenario on long term investment. Along d way, observe n analyse, change stetegy, if deems necessary.

All (ie. everyone) want to make money... preferably quickly...
Why (what's the point) be long term investors if we lose money?...

That's normal... I suppose many are like you...
coz i am not a day trader nor have the luxury of time/platform to be one... so i just analyse few blue chips with strong management, ie, UOB, and hoot big big n keep for long term (collect dividens).

Max6 correct.
However, if u got ds burger above 10.40, u may or may not break even while on payment date, if market dun recover to give a boost to d bank. If u are a long term investor, then no issue, dun worry about d payment.
For yrs, first time, all banks now below 10.
Above are not calling for anything. CA applies.

thanks AK. so, how much is the dividend (40cents or 60cents) and when (exact date)? |

Div 40 Cent will be paid on 25 May 09. Pretty reasonable, Final Div only 5 Cent lesser than last year.
However Q4 earning was below market expectation.

Latest fr BT, vast diff fr what SGX stated earlier?????
Update: UOB Q4 profit falls 34% as bad debt charges rise
* Worst quarterly results since Q2 2003
* Q4 bad debt charges almost trebled to $381m
* Shares down 1%, reversing earlier gains
