UNAUDITED 1ST QUARTER FINANCIAL STATEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
Apple announced its expectation in Jan 2007 that the iPhone would be launched in Jun 2007.
With no other iPod product introductions to keep the market heated, some customers have
strategically held up orders for the iPod speaker systems consequently having a short term
effect on our ODM turnover. However, we expect that ODM turnover will be boosted after the
launch of the Apple iPhone in Jun 2007 and we are now developing new iPhone speaker
systems for launch shortly after its introduction.

That's quite comforting.

Hope it will break the 0.22 barrier soon.
Hong Kong-based Plastoform Holdings is betting on to drive its growth. Plastoform, which specialises in designing and producing compact speakers, and its latest products are designed to give up little to their larger counterparts when it comes to sound quality. One of the key technologies behind Plastoform's speakers is its patented 'Hi-X' technology, which enables it to produce small speakers capable of producing better bass and louder sounds but at lower distortion levels - which translates into better sound quality for the listener. It achieves this by its patented way of suspending the speaker driver, allowing the speaker driver to move more while lowering distortion. The new speaker design is also capable of handling higher power outputs, hence producing louder sounds.
Another key technology in its new products is its 'ClassHD' amplification technology which it employs for sound amplification. Plastoform has an exclusive licence to use and re-license this technology from Canada-based acoustics firm Audera Acoustics. ClassHD technology supplies the audio amplification stage of the amplifier with a variable power supply which can provide higher levels of power only when the amplifier needs it, which results in lower distortion levels as the amplifier will have enough power for the louder passages of music. It is also able to reduce power consumption during lower volumes.
Plastoform reported revenues of HK$471 million (S$95.92 million) in its fiscal 2005, of which about 44 per cent is from its ODM business.
For the first five months of 2006, it reported HK$203 million in revenue, of which 43 per cent was from its ODM business, and 57 per cent was from its OEM business. The company expects to do better in 2007
