nickyng, probability is on our side. You and I can predict a lower price and its high chance we will score because its a downtrend.  So there is really nothing to boast about.  As long as you make money, that's the utmost importance.

idesa168 - DONT SIFU ME.  Thank yourself for not clicking the BUY button.

1402, I will be blunt here. I think you will be a donkey by going back to the market without understanding the risk of the current environment. You are not a trader so why don't you try changing your approach to investment. For long term investment, you do not need to follow the market intensively like every minute. By doing this you will be able to better focus on your studies and still get the thrill from the market.

hi jkbk, i'm such a donkey to leave to market to concentrate on studies, i have never been able to stop monitoring, especially when SPC charged towards $7, i'm so glad it has calmed down alot, i hope the markets would go into panic in the next few weeks and would love to become a SPC shareholder once again.

regards,
the donkey who left SPC at 5.80 (to study, bleah)

1402, Nice to hear from you though I see that you have broken your resolution. My advise is trade with caution. Many have already lost a significant portion of their earnings.

CKS, We are going through a storm. What is behind the storm is still not known. I too hope that the storm will past quickly. For now fear rule the market and clouds the mind of the majority.

dear 007... I think we should do some calculations before we get too carried away by the pessimism....

assuming your RM for 3Q07 & 4Q07 is conservative $4... this works out to be profit of 4 x 1.51 x 140000 x 180 / 515.582 million which is equal to 29.5cts.  We gave earlier estimated Ouyong upstream contribution at 9.8cts  (6,000 bpd x 70 (assume crude price $70 net extraction cost $20 x1.51 exchange rate to S$)  x120 / 515,582).  Together with the already in the bag eps of 56cts for 1H07, the most conservative yr07 eps will be 56+29.5+9.8  we have a eps of 95.3cts  which at 8x PE will be $7.62...  here I have not set aside admin costs but I also did not factor trading profits and the current upstreams etc..

As of Aug01, Dubai is 70.96. WTI 76.40. While Naptha (FOB Singapore) is 72.65. In 2Q the difference was as high as $10. I am probably correct to say that RM for Singapore has came down significantly. My guess for the average July RM is $4. I usually get confirmation from a summary update in middle of each month.

If we have a repeat of earnings similar to 2H2006, then I think there will be weakness in SPC price till next year. Chances of this happening is still very small. I do not see 7 in the short term but in the long term (till next year Feb) chances are still very good.

I just saw the news that the activities in the Atlantic are picking up and there may be news of storms and hurricane appearing next week.

ok jkbk007, point taken.... except we should note that Singapore RM does not necessarily follow US RM.  In fact when USRM was $15 last year Singapore RM was only about $2 even negative... this around we can see a different situation ... pls check...

but whatever it is, we are in agreement that one month down the line SPC price will certainly be above 7?

CKS,

Yes my view is veered towards the extreme (just applying your logo of kuasu and kuasi) but in the short term (1-2 weeks) I expect SPC to trend downward primarily due to continue downward trend of RM from significant improved refinery runs in US and also continued concern from subprime. Thereafter it may present me opportunity to buy SPC shares.
