| If you draw 2 parallel line to look at the trend starting from January 2011, you will realise today is the first day of breakout from the downtrend. But if you draw 2 parallel lines to see the long term uptrend from end November 2009, you will realise that this is only a temporary down trend within as uptrend channel. Neverthelessly, tomorrow might have a breather from today's breakout. Can't be up up and away bah... |

Golden Agri-Resources Ltd: Maintains positive CPO outlook
Summary: Golden Agri-Resources (GAR) put out a strong set of 4Q10 results yesterday, with revenue up 84.9% YoY and 23.3% QoQ to US$1189.2m, coming some 20.8% ahead of our forecast, driven by a robust recovery in CPO production and still-high CPO prices. As a result, core net profit jumped 121.3% YoY and 38.3% QoQ to US$145.5m, or around 22.9% higher than our estimate. The group has recommended a final dividend of S$0.0077 per share, or 18% of underlying profit, up from S$0.00495 per share last year (22% of core earnings). For 2011, the group maintains a positive outlook for CPO, citing the growing consumption of edible oils and fats it also expects CPO prices to remain relatively firm, given the recent spike in crude oil prices as well as continued supply constraints on edible oil substitutes like soy and corn. In view of the higher production outlook, we raise our FY11 revenue estimates by 8.0% but keep our earnings forecast largely unchanged as we see inflation as potentially exerting a negative impact on margins. Due to weaker USD assumptions, our fair value eases from S$0.91 to S$0.88, though still based on 17x FY11F EPS. Still, given the > 35% upside from here, we maintain our BUY rating. (Carey Wong) iocbc

Golden Agri: UOB KayHian upgrades grp to Hold from Sell, citing recent share price weakness tweaks its target to $0.73 from $0.75 based on 16X 2012F P/E upcycle sector valuation. Add that FY10 core net profit, +91% on to US$387m, was above its expectation, mainly on a 36% rise in CPO FOB prices offsetting a 3% fall in CPO production, margin improvement, and forex gain.
House expects earnings growth to moderate in 2011, as it tips CPO production to increase about 10%, in line with management's guidance, however expect to see higher production cost, such as fertiliser prices in 2011, which is in line with higher crude oil prices, moderate growth in CPO prices in 2011 and higher CPO export tax. House tips 2011 and 2012 net profits of US$400.6m and US$426.7m respectively. Recommends an entry price of $0.60.
