hi ideas168,

thanks for sharing. I have seen other formulas for calculating intrinsic value. They are similar to yours , (try to estimate Cash flow projections for next 10 yrs) but they have slightly more complicated other values like intrinsic factor etc.
always good to compare.

Hi trymyluck...there is no URL, just from a book written by a local writer (a millionaire himself). Adam Khoo, How to make a million $$ for Investors, a green book about $35. His modeling is very insightful with local context. To arrive at the "intrinsic" value, first he illustrate we need to project future cashflow by seeing past results. Then added them to 10 years and divide by the numbers of share. Go to bookshop and grap one...I am not a writer, can't illustrate like him. It's a good book to read at least for the greenhorn like us.

I value SPH at $3.90. It's current price is way above it's intrinsic "fair value". I may be wrong.

Dear mmmm....just for discussion, solid/good company is based on the future growtrh and earning and eventually boost up the cashflow of the company. There is growth story for F&N and the cash flow is constant, which makes F&N a good and solid company. My calculation for F&N cash flow summed up to have an intrincis value of about $4.20-$4.50. Which means I see F&N is "over value" at current price. Current PE is 23 while rolling PE (last 4 quarters) is 20 which means F&N is growing but not fast enough. For F&N to trade at fair value, PE should drop to 16 or EPS up to 36¢ as compared to current 27¢. Probably this is the reason why big funds are not finding F&N. This is true for SPH which is a monopoly in media industry in Singapore with moderate cash flow and a little of growth plus diversifying into property. The growth for SPH (in term of cash flow) cannot match the current share price, hence this counter was trading between $4.20 to $4.70 for many months. SPH will be trading this range till they boost up the cash flow and funds will come. So I hope F&N could trade at "fair value" soon as I am keen in this solid company too. As I mentioned, it's just a discussion and all are based on my personal perception of the company and the market.

Hi, Anyone here has any comment about F&N? Will it be effected by the new 70% development charge rules in the property sector? I am kind of worried coz it seems to be on a downward trend. For such a solid company it does not seem to be on the rader screens of the big boys.

Is there any TA expert who can give an analysis of F & N?  Where is it heading to? Where is the resistance and support level? Thanks.

Which means it requires one to listen half to oneself...
after half listening to the analysts... :)

But what if we ourselves are wrong too? It would result in a loss...

Thus, one should only trust the market action itself .

Where prices move, that is the only truth!... not ourselves nor other analysts... Smiley

Based on its business model and fundamental values... i still have strong believe in F&N.

For me, i only half listen to the analyse.. i always believe in my eyes on the financial statement account.. just take their words with a pinch of salt...

Happy vested.

Cheers,

Anything. Smiley

F&N survives the downgrade by Citigroup. Move up 5cents! Not bad le.....

Maybe many are fed up with Citigroup after it downgraded the Singapore Stock Market a while ago. So to show their unhappiness....they buy more F&N

Yes, yr view does make sense. I have heard the same thing before too.

Lets do a little experiment, Today BT broker's take says to sell F&N. However, in Today & The Straits Times there is optimism about "the ELEPHANT stock" SPH which they all say will no above $5. Let us obeserve & see what happens over the next month or so to both these stocks.

mmmmmm,

I've share the same view as u too. From my observation each time after the brokers recommendation the price will dip....some institution will come in to buy up. About a fewweeks later the price will satrt to move again....just watch.

Hi all, Today's Business Times Broker's take section give a very pessimistic reading of F&N. I think it is by Citigroup which gives a sell recommendation. Have any of u guyz read it yet? I some how do not feel as pessimistic abt F&N. I think it will go up.

Today looking good maybe becos of the article on F&N on business times today, titled "F&N to seek strategic alliances overseas". This would help more people to know more about F&N and why F&N is a solid company

Mani aka iPunter....my pal...;)

Better be careful about taking on split persona. People may dread chatting up with split personalities. By now, you must be fully aware of the other current saga in this forum. hahahaha

PS: Don't take life too seriously...agreed absolutely...;)

hahaha...

Once in while, your old buddy iPunter will 'appear' and speak to you...

As it can be a bit uncomfortable, even intimidating, for a new member to rebut the views of a "Supreme" member, it is well that they can  rebut the views of  an ordinary member who says the same thing... Smiley
