Technical Comment from The Edge
NOL is displaying greater relative strength. While its uptrend is not particularly strong, the absence of a top formation put it ahead of other STI component stocks. Prices bounced off a rising 50-day moving average at $2.10. Quarterly momentum is maintaining its uptrend. On the other hand, ADX is falling, confirming mediocre uptrend and the DIs are neutral. Resistance at $2.28.
Wish everyone here a nice weekend
NOL's debt is pretty high, about 21% of total assets. they have USD 1.35 BILLION DEBT.
however looks to be a better buy than Keppel (revenue and profit drop) or semb marine (revenue and profit drop), plus PE ratio is 11 and P/book value is only 1.5x
but i'm very wary of it's debt level.
might look to get a short term call warrant on NOL.
This stock experience a bullish reversal a few days ago! But will it continue its bullish trend???

Prefer SIA & NOL To STX Pan Ocean & Tiger Airways - by Credit Suisse
As we had foreseen in late 2009, the Singapore transportation
sector has generally benefitted from the V-shaped demand
recovery in 2010. Based on leading indicators, such as US ISM,
and CS expectations of decent global economic growth, we
continue to expect positive trade volume and passenger
movement in this region in 2011.
● With a soft landing in global economies, we believe 2011E could
be like 2005, and the transportation sector could further
outperform the markets. Within the Singapore transportation
sector, we remain OVERWEIGHT on container shipping and
aviation, and UNDERWEIGHT on dry bulk shipping. In Singapore,
we are positive on SIA and NOL, and more cautious on Tiger
Airways and STX Pan Ocean.
● NOL is leveraged to global trade recovery and reasonably valued
at 2011E 1.2x P/B. Demand/pricing momentum for SIA remains
positive, and the stock has underperformed its peers with below
sector-average P/B. Tiger has a good long-term growth profile
(growing ASEAN market), but valuations appear expensive.
STXPO does not look expensive, but we are negative on bulk
shipping outlook on oversupply concerns.

On Friday, NOL remains trending upwards and closed at $2.19 with LOW volume of 8.43 million shares traded.
A white candle stick with LONG upper shadow similar to “shooting star” affirms to the weakness of the rally.
Both RSI & MACD are bearish as MACD recent “cross downwards”
Important Resistance of NOL: $2.32
Immediate Support of NOL: $2.14
Currently prices are resisted by 20 days MA.
Based from the charts, 200 days MA has always been a good support of NOL since Jun 2009.
SEE ANALYSIS FOR COSCO
Thus we would encourage buying near 200 days MA if possible since the current prices is too high.
On the other hand, watch for the $2.14 support if vested.
A good entry price is 2.12...
Dump promptly if drops to 2.10 thereafter...

Wow, huge married deal done in $2.15. something brewing?

from COSCO THREAD
Deutsche Bank prefers regional shipbuilders vs shippers; says newsflow on shipbuilders likely to be more positive over next six months as dry bulk shippers continue to order, container shippers turned to profit after not ordering in past two years, says Dow Jones.
Also Deutsche Bank expects LNG/offshore orders to pick up, says between Chinese, Korean shipbuilders, “Better outperformance lies with the Chinese because of the various Chinese government support measures.”
Top buy picks are Yangzijiang (BS6.SG), Cosco Corp (F83.SG).
Reckons shipping stocks likely to struggle next six months; tips dry bulk shipping sector “to continue suffering from an oversupply situation in 2011. Hence we expect dry bulk shipping rates to correct downwards after (seasonal) run-up in 4Q.”
Adds, container shipping rates started to turn down, will continue trending down in seasonally weak 4Q. Tips long shipbuilders/short shipping pair trade, specifically long Cosco/short NOL (N03.SG).
