You are so right!

The air is still sinister after what has happened in the recent few weeks ..

it is really difficult to imagine bullish times ahead.

If Shanghai freefalls... the effects will be grave... Smiley

The objective to invest in stocks is to make a profit. However if we can't make a profit, at least dun make a loss. It's better to break even than to loose right! I am currently sitting on cash, not dabbed into stock since I liquidate my holding last week. Will wait for opportunity to jump back in again. Must wait for the dust to settle, better be cautious if invest at this moment. I will definitely look at F&N as a choice if I decide to come back. Will join you to SHOUT lah! Cheers.

Hi idesa168,

Nice to hear from you. Good results indeed. But the general mkt sentiment at the moment has not led to any increase in the price at all. I will definately hold though. Hope for the best. Will sell at abt 5.50 or 5.60 level. Must make a profit lah.

Dear mmm

If you have the holding power (appear to me that you have), you shd hang on to F&N. Based on FA, it's a gd company to invest your $$ in. However, due to the recent mkt sentiment, ALL counters suffered the nose dive. Looking at the chart, it's not bullish, neither it is bearish. It's just riding on the mkt sentiment currently, so dun be despair.

F&N is quite close to my TP now. Although I valued F&N at $4.20-$4.50 previously, it's latest result shows strength in the company. Hence I am ready to take the plunge if it's near $4.80-$4.90. But still depends on the sentiment. I wish you Good luck!

Dr Han Cheng Fong, F&NL's Group CEO said, "Our robust results were underpinned
by healthy revenue growth across all our core businesses, particularly in our Food &

profits and higher rental rates achieved from new and renewed leases. Likewise, our

Hi mmm...sorry for this late reply. I did not follow this thread closely. To be honest, I have not been following very closely to this counter, just waiting for it to drop before making further research on F&N. About the earning, it depends on the properties both counters (Capitland and F&N) has in their portfolio. Residential & Office proportion. High-end residential was in play lately and spreading gradually to the mid-range. Office properties has also come up but not as aggressive as the high-end properties. If Capitaland reports good result, that may not be true for F&N. But overall I would say property counters can play, but must be selective. Also F&N is half property, half F&B business. F&N is jack of all trades, while Capitalands is very focused type of biz, now into Macau Casino, have not bear fruits yet. If you ask me to choose, I think I will take Capitaland. Just my view! Good luck.

Dear idesa168,

I would just like to seek yr opinion. Today's St reported that Capitaland has reported excellent results. Since F&N is also involved in property, Do u think that F&N will also report very good 3rd quarter results on 10/8/2007? Will the anticipation of good results coming boost the stock?

would appreciate yr views, Tks

Yes, good to compare modelling. As you know, intrinsic value are very complicating thing in valueing a business. Just read them all with a pinch of salt. It's for reference only, not the REAL value. Some formula are real complicating. For me, I choose the easy way out, that book is for idiot like myself, easy to understand. Other factors have to take into account too like type of business, competition, rotation of sectors, etc. So, good luck with your finding. Please share with us more if you come across good stuff.

Hi trymyluck,

To cal intrinsic value, u need to est. a few factors.. some est will be needed if u wanna cal intrinsic value.. so sometimes if u est. wrongly, might understate or overstate ur "value".

One of the impt factor is sustainable growth rate, g = RR (Retention Rate) X ROE.

CAPM is another factor to consider too... Oh.. boss coming.. bye .. ha..

Cheers,

Anything. Smiley
