fairygal, ha ha... I can really imagine the look on your face then... it reminds me of the song "No body loves me... so I gona eat some worms.."
actually, those worms are edible... in certain parts of China, and Africa.. they fried the worms as delicacy and very rich in protein..... ps I have an old friend who eats beetles btw
re pics of the figs, let me see what I can do...
Once I bite into an apple, and guess what? The worm sticked out the head and wriggled, like those cartoon images you see on print or on TV. Now, it's only NZ apples for me!
Anyway, the fig tree is very tall, dun think you can capture much.......but then again, it depends on your photography skill. Mine's an idiot proof one, so you see.
Somehow, the topic of man's origin simply makes me come alive...
But unfortunately... ironically rather, one can't openly discuss such a wonderful subject without ending clobbering each other (much like Abel and Cain, hehe..)....

thank you Laotze sir... welcome !!

the otherjuicy thing is the mangosteen why incidently we all like except we have to be careful in selecting them.. and also making sure the juice of the shell do not stain our clothes: they are very hard to remove (Singaporegal do you know how to?). And actually the juice that stains is a good remedy for skin rashes.. (it is also extracted into the commercial mangosteen juice)
Hi choohian; do you know that fig fruit is used in Chinese (cantonese) cooking. Put two of the fig fruit and boiled it with about half a chicken or one lb pork (serving for 4 ppl). It taste really good.
mani aka nico, chinkiasu, my pal....;)
after the passage of the last storm in SJ, both of you have taken the lead in providing entertainment in this thread, talking about juicy things ;)
i prefer the sweet translucent rambutans and sour sweet duku : )
can't help it : same stance about Adam in Quran ...don't want to go further on this .....and put SJ in an awkward position .
(my post got removed once .. ironically when replying to chinkaisu ... ipunter would remember ; ) )
they are not really cheap to buy...
I suppose that's why Mangosteen Juice are sold at such a premium price...

Agree with you Mani
One bad seed spoils the whole lot. Another disgusting thing ... sometimes you have to be extra careful when you buy mangosteens. Have to check them carefully.
There were times when I found big black ants INSIDE the mangosteen. Imagine the shock I got when I was about to put the seeds into my mouth.
Another disgusting thing about mangosteens is that the biggest piece of goody is also the one that contains the huge seed... while the other pieces inside the pod without seed are so tiny.
And they are relatively expensive to buy too...
so if one mangosteen in the lot is bad, one eats very much less...

Chinkiasu... :)
hahaha..
I am so happy you treat me as your friend...
And I also treat you as your buddy...
But since I don't want beliefs to come between us and destroy our relationship,
it is better we not discuss beliefs, whether in person or otherwise.
And further, I also have nil desire to convert you to my rational mode of looking at the world...
Although I like mangosteens, I find that they are temperamental fruit.
When they are just ripe, they are delicious. But when they are over ripe, they look positively disgusting.....
Chinkiasu... :)
Your explanation is magnificent... so obviously you subscribe to that teaching...
Personally, I do not 'believe' that all people can believe in the same thing...
To me, only science, scientific progress, and rationality are the most believable of all things.
Fortunately, we have freedom to believe to our hearts' content anything that we love to believe...
hi Mani... the Bible does not say what is the fruit that Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden: and it is actually pointless to guess because it is not relevant to the issue. Bottomline, what is relevant is that God made all living things subject to Man (Adam) and of all the things that Adam is allowed to do, God only forbid Adam to do one thing that is to eat the fruit of the Tree (of Knowledge of Good and Evil). The issue is that God gave Adam all the dominion, except that God has only one thing that Adam can easily do ie to obey God for that little request.. and yet Adam disobeyed and eat the fruit...
Does anyone happen to know what fruit Adam and Eve ate in the Garden od Eden?
Some believe it is an apple... do the historical records say it is another fruit?...

I only know the fig tree is sort of a "modesty tree"...
since artists used a fig leaf to conceal the privacy part in portraiture work...
