Asian Shares Mostly Up; Earnings Support Tokyo

SINGAPORE (MarketWatch) -- Asian share markets were mostly higher Thursday with the Tokyo market rising sharply on recent positive earnings reports, while most investors welcomed the U.S. Federal Reserve's latest stimulus package.
Japan's Nikkei Stock Average rose 2.2% as trading resumed after Wednesday's national holiday, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.4%, South Korea's Kospi Composite added 0.4%, China's Shanghai Composite Index gained 1.3%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was 1.2% higher and India's Sensex was up 0.8%.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures were up three points in screen trade.
Markets generally responded positively to the Federal Reserve's announcement of a $600 billion asset-buying plan, known as quantitative easing, to inject life into an anemic U.S. economy.
"It was a wild night, so it's early days, but with QE2 in the bag, the market might start to view positive U.S. economic data in a more bullish light," said Macquarie Private Wealth adviser Shannon Briggs.
The Tokyo market was bolstered by strong earnings and relief the Fed didn't pursue a more aggressive asset-buying plan which could have driven an already-strong yen further up against the U.S. dollar.
"There is a sense of relief that the U.S. Fed's decision did not diverge too sharply from market expectations," said Yoshinori Nagano, senior strategist at Daiwa Asset Management.

Most counters will close at 5.05pm with a sell-down.

Yes... lots of times when news are out, prices have been pushed up already.

Also you need to realise the meaning of "Buy the rumour, sell the news" The market moves 6 months ahead of the economy. The market also moves ahead of the news. Look at the STI candles from last week friday till yesterday. Pricing in of QE2 was already happening. BUY the rumour, SELL the news.

quite true. everyone already assumed the QE2 will go through and pushed the price so high. so now not much fuel left for further push.

The market moves 6 months ahead of the economy.
The market also moves ahead of the news.
Look at the STI candles from last week friday till yesterday.
Pricing in of QE2 was already happening.
BUY the rumour, SELL the news.

0.535 holding 10 lots. but got back 10 lots at 0.44
breaking even at 0.47......
hope it cheong 60 % when genting sp good results is release.
