Nobody can be an "insider" in all companies though.
Maybe if you have a relative working in GenSp, then you have an advantage.
But yet again, insider trading is illegal.
So there is a lot of gray areas regarding this.

The only way to do that is to get into the inner circle. Join a few investment clubs in Singapore if you wish. The money is in the network.

Most of the time, if an information hit the news be it paid subcription or not, its no longer a considered a rumour. Some people are already aware of what is about to hit the news and has taken the necessary positions. Those are what I call clever and resourceful.
You are right though, the sure way to get news quicker than normal is via paid subscription. |

This is good but rumours do not reach everyone. It is also difficult to hunt the web for rumours. So what happens normally is that majority of retail investors "buy on news" while the clever ones are already selling |

STI +0.1% at 3,229.11, with gainers just pipping decliners 1.3 to 1. Volume remains moderate at 1.10 billion shares worth $1.13 billion. Gains modest despite confirmation of Fed’s commitment to drip-feed US economy, as STI's recent rally largely prices-in expected increase in liquidity flows, analysts told Dow Jones.
Attention now turns to next risk event: US non-farm payrolls tomorrow. “If the non-farms come in worse-than-expected, then we may see a selloff (in overseas markets), so people are more cautious today," says an analyst at local house. But adds, Japan shares +2.2%, so caution has to be balanced against rest of region. “What we may see is some selling into strength later ahead of the long weekend.”
Singapore market shut Friday for public holiday. DBS (D05.SG) +0.7% at $14.20 after 3Q results, Cosco (F83.SG) +1.5% at $1.97 after 3Q earnings prompt some analyst upgrades. Medium-term resistance tipped at 3250, then 3,267. |

Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose 0.1% to 3,229.21 as of the 12:30 p.m. trading break. Five stocks fell for every four that rose in the benchmark equity index of 30 companies.
Shares on the measure trade at an average 15.8 times estimated earnings, compared with about 17.4 times at the beginning of the year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The following shares were among the most active in the market. Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), a China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers, climbed 1.6% to $1.97. The company said its third-quarter net profit more than doubled to $55.1 million from $22.3 million a year earlier. DBS Group Holdings (DBS SP), Southeast Asia’s biggest bank, rose 0.6% to $14.18. The bank said third-quarter net income increased 28% to $722 million from a year earlier. Analysts had expected profit of $655.9 million, based on the average of eight analyst estimates compiled by Bloomberg. Rotary Engineering (RTRY SP), the builder of storage tanks for the oil and gas industry, slipped 1.9% to $1.02. The company said third-quarter profit slipped 4% to $10.2 million from a year earlier even as revenue climbed 43% to $155.5 million. SATS (SATS SP): The ground-handling services provider partly owned by Temasek Holdings gained 0.4% to $2.90. UBS AG raised its share price-forecast to $3.40 from $3 and maintained its “buy” rating. |

Also you need to realise the meaning of "Buy the rumour, sell the news" The market moves 6 months ahead of the economy. The market also moves ahead of the news. Look at the STI candles from last week friday till yesterday. Pricing in of QE2 was already happening. BUY the rumour, SELL the news. |

No stock can go up every single day. Just like STI cannot go up every single day. Much of QE2 is already priced in. Be grateful that QE2 went through and the stock market did not dive today. This attitude will serve you longer in the long run. |
