For the sake of forumers who don't follow STL closely, its financial year end is 31 Mar.. It will have to announce FY2010 results before end May.

As of 3Q10 (31 Dec09), its eps is 1.95c. My est of FY10 eps is 2.6-2.8c. In good years, Co. is known to be pretty generous with its dividents. But at 47.5c (current price), its P/E is 17.6X....which is demanding and even if it declares div of 2.5c, its yield is 5.2%......

Fundamentally, the abovementioned indicators are not very attractive....but this counter is a valuation play.

For proerty company, PE ratio is less relevant than NTA.

Dynons plaza will start to contribute from 1 April 2010 , so this project will supply consistent cash flow and dividend payout will also be more consistent.

The 23 millions from the sales of 100C pasir panjang road will also add to cash flow, so higher dividend can be expected, at least 1.5 cts or more.

Spot on , if SL revalue all its assets, then the NTA will more more than 1.15.

Probably the main factor STL is undervalued is cos the Aussie and NZ accounting rules does not  revalue property assets annually (like Spore) but instead requires it to be depreciated.

There is value because:

1. In their award winning hotel chain, the largest in Australasia.

2. Coming rental  returns from their Dynon Plaza in Perth

3. Property market in Australia and NZ slowly picking up, not to mention the value of their currencies. Australia, rich in resources and commodities, has one of the strongest economies in the West and there is a strong likelihood that interest rates may be increased there again.

4. Some years back apart from the issue of selling the hotel chain, there was also talk about OCK looking into setting up a Hotel REIT from their hotel properties.

5. Great thing is that not many follow this counter, I mean analysts.

Should consider to buy in whenever there is price pull back. Hit 0.47 on last Friday.

More price appreciation ahead.
