Clarification.....sale of COSCO will work out to 1.76cts per share of semb Mar ant 0.9cts per share for SCI.
Addendum: SembMar sold 30,000,000 COSCO shares in Nov 06 with a one off gain of $25.7 mil - which works out to be about eps 1.4 cts.
This transaction will just about double their quarterly profit.....but I think, stripping away this one off gain, operationally, SembMar will be quite flat.

Semb Utilities 2Q profit should be $47.4m - not $30m as stated in previous post.
Perhaps its a re-rating by institutions before FY06 announcement on 16 Feb.
Lets consider each sector:
Whilst I still believe SembMar will announce good results, it will not show much (if any) Q on Q growth. (Profit in 1Q- 25.1m, 2Q -30m, 3Q - 27.5m)
Semb Utilities will be the one to watch. It will show good Q on Q growth with the coming on stream of the Faujiarah project. (Profit 1Q - 45.3m, 2Q - 30m, 3Q - 66.6m)
Environ - may still be a drag for the group as their new businesses may not be contributing yet. (Profit 1Q - 3.9m, 2Q - 3.2m, 3Q - -25.6m)
Others....
- Co. have already settled the Solitare case (3Q),
- made provisions for impairment of assets for Environ (3Q),
- sold Engineering and Constr and made necessary provisions or it (2Q).
So, basically, in the first 3Q of 06, SCI has clean out all the skeletons in the cupboard and in 4Q it will have a clean slate and 07 should see a good year.
I planned to sold some on Thursday at $4.36. After keying in my orders at around 3.02pm, my orders was immediately "taken up". I checked my counter party, and realised it was my one of my "fav. ang moh banks" for my contra criterias. I immediately queue for a buy back of double the amount that I sold, at $4.30, making it a "shot position" with excess lots for a "reverse long". I cleared all my contra positions today for $4.52, without "touching" my holdings. Now it irrational investor sentiments play for most of the counters. TA might not be appropriate at this moment now.
Definitely manipulation by big boys. Looks to be uptrending for 2 weeks now.
There is "manipulation" by 1 ang moh bank for this counter today. TA charts shown slight downtrending. Contra players who had "entered" on Wed & Thurs for this counter must exercise cautious.
Can accumulate when falls to $3.90
yea, am kinda like you then, shplayer. My TA calls this mth have been very fast, much faster than what i normally play ('cos follow the trend). FA hold for long time too. hm, will ask your expert advice when i accumulate semb corp next time. hehe.
most of my FA is in macqinf now. pure divvy alone. If a correction comes, i'm just gonna accumulate more of it.
Been doing a bit of punting too this month......think mkt run up too much too fast to hold for long....so I do quick in and out (1-2 wks) with my 'punting' funds.....
But for my FA holdings, I can hold for long long time. SembCorp is one of my biggest holdings......accumulated between 1.90 and 2.35.....and still holding most of it.
yea you were right; i was too impatient that day. good lesson learnt at a relatively low cost. and haha you hit it right. i tend to move too fast. which is why i limit my risk by paying all full; no contra, no short, no cfds, much as i'd like to. must say most of my trades this mth have been settled within the T+4 tho, but that's just 'cos markets have been moving fast. i normally hold longer.
act, i bought SPC again at 4.06. would like this bug to be one of my longterm holdings. (FA call, not TA)

Not at all....I did learn a few things from you....e.g. SPC. But, perhap you were abit impatient with that and jumped in too early. I punted a few days after; when sellers seemed to dried up and make some 'teh' money.
Anyway, keep up the good work.

Think about 1 to 2 weeks ago I suggested you look at sembcorp. Did you consider it? Would have been good 'teh tarik' money if you did.
Close 3.90....Looks like my 'BUY' timing is precise....but my 'SELL' timing needs some polishing up.
With increasing price above $3.84, sell only when vol exceeds 10 000 lots.
If can keep above $3.84 today, it will be a very good sign for further increase.
