FX not for me. As I mentioned, I really know nuts about this. Will leave it to you to make lah. If I am not wrong, FX requires a lot if $$ to trade. That little fluctuation can take months or years to profit...but as I had said, I dun know about FX.....I AM IN SPC at 7.00...1 lot oni...hehehe! So CHEONG ARHHHHH.......hail to my 1 lot...lol!
Singapore looks set to build floating oil storage. Singapore's waters seem set to have a new addition and Jurong Island may have a floating companion to store oil and petrochemicals. The Republic has indicated that it will go ahead with the building of offshore floating storage terminals for oil and petrochemicals, as well as oil bunkers for ships. 'JTC Corp is already in talks with several oil trading companies who have expressed strong interest in these very large floating structures (VLFS),' Philip Su, JTC's assistant CEO said. This follows a just-completed phase 1 feasibility study by agencies including the Maritime and Port Authority and JTC, which showed such floating structures to be both technically feasible and also comparable in cost to land-based oil storage. JTC will, therefore, now proceed with phase 2 of the study, which will be completed by mid-2008, he said.
No can do idesa168 bro. For SG stocks, I will stick to the 'boring' portfolio. : ) I need to spend more time on the FX.
Since you like kopi$ so much, FX suits you. You can go Short or Long on so many currency pairs for as long as you want and trade in the morning, afternoon and night for 5 half days a week. : ) Some currency pairs even offers you rollover interest for carrying it more then a day.
I like your little red devil in you, Kilroy bro.
Wanna join me in China play for kopi $$?...hehehe...
' ... Should the day come when mkt crash, and SPC goes to as low as $4.00, I doubt there are many who dare to get a piece of action then ... '
When fear reignth ... I will pour out my wrath from my mnaqqiyth to consume the blood spill of those who flee.

Agathos...The australian oil exploration companies may have the oil reserves but as long as it is not "dug" up and 'sold" it is not considered revenue.
In australia there are also alot of small to medium companies that claim to have iron ore deposit, gold deposit,etc.....and the price per share is just a few cents....U know like pennies shares in spore context.
SPC main source of revenue is from refinery though it is now expanding into E&P.
Btw.....like chinkiasu,i am also in a hurry to go and collect my divvy.
Something that other investors do not know about our investment strategy here. We buy into SPC business, not the share price. When got a share in a GOOD business, your share price will take care of itself. Although I am not in (no $$ already), I still would recommend this counter with a high yield (6%) and expanding into E&P. Target $9.00!......Wait for blood to spill...lol...well, when SPC went down to $5.25, did anyone dare to touch it even if you see it. Should the day come when mkt crash, and SPC goes to as low as $4.00, I doubt there are many who dare to get a piece of action then. It's FEAR in human emotion, in you and me bcos we are not Warren Buffet.
hi agathos & hawke009 welcome aboard....
many thanks for your contribution...... you are absolutely right that SPC is really nothing to shout about.... but within the permutations of that little company ... we are reckon it is still value for money... like you could settle for COSCO or China Milk.. or Synear... they still get more than 10% increase their prices... we could also settle that at the end of the financial year, SPC willl give us at least 50cts divvy......irrespective of the figs you gave... btw, from Ooyang, we have calculated that even for the 100days we should get eps of 5.17cts....that is something from previously nothing..... I guess you can wait for blood to spill, but I think you gona have to wait some while... meanwhile I go and collect my divvys..... ps why do use God's name...????
Dear DShare Junctionites.
Greetings! I've a perspective regarding SPC. Within the petroleum circles, SPC's per day barrels of oil
is nothing to shout about! There are many small to medium cap Australian Cap Oil Exploration companies that
have more than 8 MILLION barrels of reserve and yet their shares are about 24 cents to 1.37 cents.
Here, we have a refinery, reseller who is trying to acumulate OIL and gas in anticipation of some climax OIL crisis sometime in the future.
And the price is SGD$6 something. My very personal VERDICT - I won't buy! There's no value there!
But then again, I may be very wrong as share prices are really driven (in good times) by the EMOTION of the people frying it!
But the same people who buy will then SELL at any SOUND of emotional JITTER!
I will wait for bLOOD to spill on the streets, then I will buy in again. Regards to all. (just purely my opinion). God bless you (And don't be greedY).
is already abv the 12 month targt price, u still buy? :p
ok lah, tomorrow I buy 1 lot!
idesa168, why not you be the 'catalyst' mentioned in Pinnacle's post to buy up the price. hehehe.
It's 7 already!
DBS Vickers - Singapore Petroleum
Bohai assets will boost E&P exposure
HOLD S$6.80 Price Target : 12-month S$ 6.85 (Prev S$6.70)
Story: SPC announced that it is acquiring offshore E&P assets in Bohai Bay, China for US$223m (S$334.5m). The acquisition should be completed by end Oct 2007 but effective 1 Jul 2007.
Point: The Bohai assets are expected to contribute 4,300 barrels of crude oil production per day (bpd) and should raise SPCs crude production to c.11,000bpd from 2,540bpd in 2006. Hence, we have raised FY07-08F net profit by 4.4% and 8.5%, respectively, to reflect the acquisition.
Relevance: In our opinion, the acquisition price is fair. We have raised SPCs sum-of-parts valuation by 2% to S$6.85 to reflect value add from the acquisition. SPCs current share price is close to the years high, while refining margin have fallen 64% from this years peak. As we expect refining margin to remain soft in the next few months and 2H07 earnings to be significantly lower than 1H07, we see no near term share price catalyst.
Maintain Hold.
CKS, aiyo....so many counters you are holding. How to monitor their performance? Cut lah, especially Creative, no pt keeping a company that is awaiting for a turnaround. Wait till they can churn out $$ then invest. I think FibreChem can keep. The rest I don't know, but good luck if you still wish to keep all.
SPC indeed a defensive one. That's a good one and we are very very familliar with. I am still waiting...hahaha!!!
Idesa168, as I have said before, I have 50% SPC and mix of Global Voice, LMA, GKE, Sunningdale, Trek, Pac Andes, Creative, Fibrechem etc.. but I dont advise anyone follow me cos there was no actual strategy except for SPC which I feel is a strong defensive stock in a then uncertain even bearish market.
Dear CKS Sir,
Care to share what other stocks you are still holding beside SPC and at what percentage to your whole investment portfolio? I am always very interested to see how others invest and their strategies.
I am currently only holding 2 counters:
SYNEAR 90% (entry 1.66)
PFOOD 10% (entry 1.2).
SPC (doors still open)
good luck, sir Idesa168 to your China & Synear play... it surely looks a winner... however as for me I am trying to wind down, my many stocks and limit it to about three or four.. because I cannot focus on them enough (actually same principle as your investing method..)
CKS Sir, I stayed sideline patiently awaiting for opportunity to board SPC all these while, everyday. Well opportunities struck, but I took profits quite a few times. I had also profited from the ups and downs of SPC. To date, my returns were more than if I stay in SPC. After today's price, I see that SPC will not allow me to profit that way anymore. So I just have to write to you to congratulate you, my dear friend......ok something exciting for me here, while waiting sideline for SPC, I came across a China stock SYNEAR. Check thru the profile and it's worth a plunge at the price $1.6++. I went ahead a week ago, abandoning the idea of boarding SPC. Well, the return was to my surprise enormous. Synear is a dumpling company, top freeze food brand in China and they are expanding. Was appointed as the main sponsor for Olympic 2008. The price was depressed due to the mkt sentiment as well as pig disease in China that cause the spike of pork price. Pork account for about 20% of their raw material. I see opportunity there as this pork price problem will be temporary and I capitalised on it. Entry at $1.63 & $1.68. Yesterday and today the surge was from $1.63 all the way to today's closing price at $2.06. A cool 20% profit in 2 days. The better part is I can invest long term with this company, with 3% yield, a growth stock. As you know, the style of my investment, ALL EGGS IN ONE BASKET. Yes all in. Well, I would not want to close door on SPC as yet, but the price now is really not worth taking position. My target still stays at $9.00 and I am EXTREMELY sure about it. Should I have extra$$, will consider SPC again, but the price MUST be right, which I think you will not be happy about...hehehe...paiseh. So meantime, enjoy your ride here with SPC. Let's ride together to China as SPC now is in China. HUAT AH!
many thanks sir.... I think we may now see 7.00 ...although the warrant plays would have a dampening effect..
sorry we couldnt have you onboard, but.. there is always the next round....btw, what is SYNEAR..??
