On 23 Sep 13, CHEN announced that it won a US$183m contract to build a rig for Andaman Sea over a three-year period. The contract comes with an additional two-year extendable option and is for the provision of a semisubmersible rig (semi) to a Southeast Asian-based national oil company to support its oil and gas activities in the Andaman Sea. CHEN is in the process of forming a JV to own the semi, which will be upgraded and refurbished. The rig is expected to be deployed in the Andaman Sea between end-13 and early 2014.
