Not per capita but per family). They struggle to make ends meet and mostly they have small amount of savings to no savings. Their standard of living are slightly better than those of the third worlds but hardly can be said to be comfortable or average.   Many of these fall into debts through credit card borrowings or from friends and relatives.   For those with a small income to sustain they are less miserable that those with no solid incomes. No matter how we progress, there will be people left behind and when we run fast we should always look behind to ensure that those running far behind us are still there.
