Many traders know how to cut loss...
They always cut loss... and are experts at cutting loss...
They cut loss so many times until they also go "pok!" in the end...
They must also learn how to "cut gain"...
Usually they don't know how to cut gain...
Because they want to sapu all the fatty bom-bom profits for themselves only...
They usually let their profits run... and then it runs away...
Such players must learn how to "leave some for the next man"...

Ha ha, absolutely correct. Sifus said, there is up n down in the stock market. Sometime, prediction could be wrong. Important is trust ownself and trade/invest carefully. Others' advices solely as references, no obligation. Hv a good Sunday. Cheers |

You are right.
To determine the Best Time to Sell is an Art that cannot be taught
from any trading book.
This really comes down to experiences.
I used to and sometime now also... Sell too early.
Still learning to master this art.

I heard a speech by Robert Kiyosaki a while back...
(I am sure you know about him and his books)...
He did mention that stock market is dangerous and very risky,
or something to that effect...
Anyway, notwithstanding the sorrow and pain,...
How do people learn valuable lessons in life?
Isn' it best by experience?
Thus, you must also be 'thankful' for the valuable experience too, in addition to all your other blessings...

Wish to post my sorrow here too. But please I don't want any sympathy. At the moment lost an indecent amount in the market plus had savings in Euro currency have to discount 20 % due to unfavourable exchange rate as Euro is badly battered. Trying to seek solace by hoping that market and Euro will turn around. The positive thing is I have more than ample time to hold and nil debts, stable job. The plus thing is I am in the peak of my health surrounded with a loving family and understanding friends. What more can I ask but be grateful for there are less fortunate that I hope that aren't many. |

You are very right to think that way, Sir... :)
Making money by investing or trading are equally difficult...
It is not as easy as many people think...
If it is so easy, no one needs to work, or do business,...
or create products and services any more...

I always remind myself if can make money so easy in stock market then no one need to work liao... 90% of those trade loss money and only 10% win... set cut loss and protect capital is the very basic one have to learn... anyway i think most, if not all the ppl in the 10 % are from the 90% group before... cheers! |

You are in the pink of heath, no debt, stable job and have a loving family. What is there to feel sorrowful about? Anytime I will trade all my profits for what you have that no amount of money can buy.

Many times, I find cutting loss is the correct decision.
You preserve majority of your capital, you learn a valuable less and you sleeps better at night.
If you continue to hold.
Your capital shrink everyday, your mind can't think straight due to the worries and you cannot sleep well at night.
Worst still, the deeper you sink, longer it takes to recover.
No one know for sure when mkt will turn. From this forum u can sense more bearish sentiment emerging - so my guess is situation will get worse going forward. I'm in the same dilema n may take the middle route - exit 50% on any rally next week. Sign......lost faith in this mkt already.

The key to cutting loss is...
When the cut loss point is hit, you cut loss immediately, no question asked.
You don't ask what if the price goes up or down tomorrow, because the trade is already a mistake.
If you want to cut loss, then cut loss now and move on.
Learn from this mistake and do a better trade next time.
This is one of the most important rule in trading and one that is difficult to follow.
