DBS "nil-paid" Rights commences trading today

Please note the trading of the “nil-paid” Rights commences today and ends on 14 Jan 2009 at 5pm.

The last date and time for acceptance and payment for Rights shares is on 20 Jan 2009 at 5pm (9.30pm for electronic applications).

Based on the issue price of S$5.42 for each Rights share and on the last done closing price of DBS of S$9.42 (yesterday), the theoretical price for the “nil-paid” Rights is S$4.00 (could be slightly lower due to transaction costs and also dependent on DBS's share price).

Whenever the exponential factors upset the equilibrium condition of the market...the market will enter into a state of adjustment...and DBS is in such state.

Whenever there is a proportional dilution to a normal cup of coffee without sugar...the coffee will taste mild...less bitter...but easier  to consume.

Brewing a good pot of porridge takes time...must have a good proportion of water and ingredient. This pot of porridge has been over heated by wild fire...over dumped with unnecessary ingredients...most importantly...the porridge is not over cooked. A good proportional dilution of water over a slow fire...give it some time...it is still a good pot of porridge.

One will have different view at different time over different age...but the view has to be from an open eye.

I am wondering if our "veterans" and experts on this board could comment on my analysis of this right issues thinghie. Please indicate (correct/ wrong beside each point):

a) once the rights issues have been done, there will be more DBS shares, so the market price of each share will drop (correct/wrong)

b)  rally for this past week could be because of an institutional stakeholder trying to build up the current DBS share so that :

i) the drop after extra (right) shares come out won't be that severe (correct/wrong) and

ii) to get more small investors to jump on board (correct/wrong)

c) there is potential risk to jump into the rally bandwagon now and then have the big player dump the shares to take the profit (correct/ wrong)

d) in this gloom and with more bad news to come, there is no good rationale why investors should be buying financial/ banking shares like DBS unless they are super-super optimistic or have spare cash to hold for over a year (correct/wrong)

Appreciate your taking your time to comment on the above during your precious weekend :)

No limit. But make sure u hv enough $ to take the offer, if u were granted the offer, esp when the R were under subscribed. Ha ha, AK kena 120 lots of R of GentInt before, but sad to say, so far didn't make $ on this burger. Dumped them earlier 08. Later of the yr bought some for souvenier.

On d otherhand, as AK posted earlier, if u bought half lot of DBS before XR, u will be entitled 250 shares of R. Then u subcribe excess of 750  shares of R to round off as a lot. This way, likely u will be granted liao. If not greedy, get few more lots of the right loh. But u must do your home work b4 to do anything, as money is  yours.

Do we long or do we short?  Short can die, long can live, my friend told me.  Not clear at all.

Chinese or even other races, traditionally give angbao as good luck n gesture. New notes for new yr is another practice specially for Chinese only.

Henceforth, MAS will print new notes while approaching CNY. And local financial agencies will offer d exchnage service cum issue angbao envelopes to their clients or even for all who q for the services with limit amount. To avoid inconveniences, they only offer the services a week before CNY. Ha ha, no q n no limit, say 10k n below, if u make d service via your fund manager. They direct go to the tellers.

Ha ha, if u buy $30 or above, Sporepools will give u angbao as well. I think a week b4 CNY as well.
