Hi guys, thanks for the encouraging replies.
To be frank, I put aside about $15K which i feel i am comfortable with to hold certain counters for long term.
I started off opening an on line account 2 months back....keep watching...keep watching...and miss out on a few like Ban Joo and Armarda and also recently, Jade.
My first hit was on a penny cap, MDR at 0.055 and let go at 0.080, then i hit another penny cap Eastgate at 0.065 but let go abit too early yesterday at 0.075.
I am stuck with Gems TV at 0.840 and also ArianeCorp at 0.090. Still holding onto New Toyo at 0.0295.
I intend to let off New Toyo...but will observe for a little while as after they dispose of the companies that's losing $, guess they might make new annoucement for the new direction which might push the 0.325 higher.
I am more a long term investor but if the counters i am holding rise to a favourable price...will let go. This is my basic strategy...and i got all infos from just reading news here and there, identify a few counters and then look into their company background b4 deciding to hit or not.
No TA knowledge and don't really understand many terms/words used like PE ratio, warrants/rights etc...haha. All purely base on reading and then researching b4 my basic instinct to buy or sell.
Any good advice from experts in this forum are most welcome for my learning stage.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, me too. I have learnt a lot from the fellow forumers here. Thanks to all of you!
Before the recent rising market, my portfolio of shares shows a sea of red. It was real frustrating! Now at least my portfolio is better. [Maybe due to the good market sentiment and the better knowledge of investment which I have learnt from the members here]. Now I am reading some books on TA to get more knowledge to understand what is been discussed here.
Now I have another problem. Can't decide when to sell! With my little and limited knowledge on TA, when I look at the charts of my counters, it seems that the price can go up further. But if I follow the "profit" objective - I should cash in. Any comments from the sifus here? Thanks.
Frankly speaking, trading in out of stocks at the end of the year tallies up may not yield you much gains. If you are able to get positive then congratulations. The only true winner are those who buy and hold long term. In short, short term traders are actually transferring your wealth to us buy hold long term investor. This phrase I learnt from some poster in another forum :)
Btw please continue trade in and out so the share price can move up and down ok? Thanks :)
Me too, following tips from ppl here........
hi skeleton, i'm quite a newbie myself too, but have learnt a bit from the experienced folks here. hang around more and listen to some tips and analysis. guess i'm a little different in the sense that i plunged right into investing. despite my impulse buys (which i quickly learnt from the experienced folks that one should learn to cutloss, unless your holding power is very high), my overall portfolio has turned black after initially being in the red. keep sharing! cheers.

Sure ipunter, thanks for your piece of advice....will surely bear that in mind....be it now or in the future.
I am not too keen on TA as yet as they are still based on past histories, usually look up for news in the company's website or press, so is there other means to determine earlier, the company's direction besides of course "insider's informations"

Thanks in advance.
Skeleton...
Yes, fair enough...
If you can force yourself to play small while you learn the ropes, it's perfectly OK... :)
But as you go along, do beware of being 'too knowledgeable' in TA, etc...
Knowledge, whether theoretical or via experience, is only a basis of one's actions...
But with wrong actions, one can lose a lot of money, no matter what one knows...
Thanks ivorycoast, think i get what u mean, shall act after lunch break

BTW, can go a step further and advice me what signals to look out for in terms of prices going to go up or down ?
Thanks in advance

Next big time collection ......
BTW, any seminar or course to attend for newbies like myself without any basic knowledge or foresight of the market ?
Thanks in advance

Thanks to your kind advice, iPunter, i am trading in very small volume now to learn the trick instead of papaer money, i feel i will be more cautious this way as it's real money.
Hope to learn more from you guys if possible :)
Thanks.
Why not play with paper money first? (ie. do simulated paper trading).
Do it for, say, six months, calculate your profits/losses. Then play the real thing.
The stock market is too dangerous for one without basic knowledge and experience.
