Seems like trying to maintain a foothold at 1.38...soon we might be saying hi to 1.4. The buy up today almost doubled the selling. Looking good

The neckline as a resistance for this rebound is at $1.49 .

Dunno why they posted $1.44 as a support. But then again, things are always clear on hindsight. Yeah, looks like $1.14 - $1.20 is a strong support, based on TA chart history. The  bottoms of around 24 dec 2010, 16 mar 2011, 4 may 2011, 22 dec 2011 are around this range. The resistance peaks of 18 Jan 2011 and 8 Apr 2011 show that $1.32 has some support. I believe experienced chartists (I am still learning) refer to it as resistance turned support. Overall Ta chart, to my learning view, is that the price is still on a downward channel.

Ichimoku: price below 9d conversion and 26d base - but both are getting less steep, indicating a possible bottoming out before reversal of pricing, or can get steeper if macroeconomic news in the world is bad. ADX: Is at 44, which indicate that the current price trend (downtrend) is still in place. However, price has touched the lower Bolliger band and Stochastics on 5 June indicate a small rebound is in place. if the company releases really positive news, then like Swiber, expect a strong rebound instead.

Any comments from more experienced TA chartists and those that do FA too?

STX OSV has tumbled 23% from $1.82 on 22 Mar to close at $1.395 on 1 Jun vis-a-vis STI's 8.2% decline over the same period. This came about despite numerous reports on the potential sale of STX OSV at a (possible) price higher than the  market price of 1.395. Do take a look at my blog here for more details ernestlim15.blogspot.com

All the best in your trading and investing.

Fully agree with you! Better stay clear and wait.

The buy-over may be another " Here comes the wolf" story that has been telling for months. Before the buy-over comes true, the stock price has dropped from 1.80 to 1.30 or even below in the next few days/weeks.

My pocket is not deep enough to hold it.

remember, dont rush...when u think it can't go further...it will just dip to prove u wrong..scroll back, and u see how many ppl say can support at 1.45, then now...everyone quiet.
not surprise if it go to 1.2X.

16th June might be Armageddon...u never know, every cents is hard earn, dun have to throw it by speculating buy-over. If u do so, it's no different from betting, might as well go singaore pools. TOTO got even better return if u are lucky LOL.
Although i think for now, greece shld still be safe, but the underlying is weak, US data starting to show it's color..but even if there is good data, still have to rmb that they are having presidential election :)

just my thoughts ^^

Can I say this morning's spike is due to the short covering i.e. those who have shorted this one for the last two day buy back to close the position? If this is the case then the price increased is transient. And those who rush in at higher price will be caught. Tempted to go in this morning but I remember littleboi's sharing so better stay clear for the time being.

Need to hear the views from all gurus here...

Just wait for the announcement of the sale before take any action.....whatever things turn out it will be negative unless the buyer buy over the remaining share at a price higher than current share price.....

Buy now from open market and buy 50.75 from stx europe....anyways, stx europe is in need of money, no need to pay too high.....remember that stx europe is willing to ipo stx osv at 79 cents.........

Then no need to pay high..........

heavenknow      ( Date: 05-Jun-2012 11:08) Posted:

Just to add abit more from this shifu. stx parent firm still hold 50.7 % of stx osv. No matter how much they buy from open market, they would not have controlling right to the company. The other issue is that open market price is not static. This morning is a good example. just 3 million + shares can push price up till 1.36. for them to buy enough to shares t take over, the price will be pushed sky high by their actions and also by other investors who are betting on how high it will go.

So their best bet will be dealing straight with the parent firm who in this case, is a very willing seller. hope make sense here

MtFaber      ( Date: 05-Jun-2012 09:40) Posted:

This is a tricky situation. The price (if it is 1.60) is agreed between the bidder and STX PO at a different time frame. Whether the bidder is required to mandatory take over all the rest of the share is still a (?) mark. Another question is whether the successful bidder has obligation to take over the rest floating in the market at 1.60? It can be lower perhaps due to market condition if it is required to do so. So it is still a risk.

One question to ask all the gurus here: in the situation like this, doesn't it better for the bidder to buy from the open market at cheaper price rather than from STX at 1.60??
