Remember to  reserve some for rights call as well. Otherwise, can panic!
History has shown that during bad times, companies do call rights to ride over and it has happened to NOL before.

I started out with 10k cash + 20k CPF back in 2004.
Probably I was lucky.
You are right to say 200k is not enough for retirement in Singapore.
At most it will last you for 3.5 years in Singapore (based on a 5k per month expenditure) for a typical household.
LOL
No risk no gain.

Genting not at the lows and since it is not incorporated in Singapore you cannot use CPF to trade.
I did not find any other blue chips right at the lows of the chart except NOL.
If you do, kindly let me know and I will like to look it up for a possible buy n hold.
:p
Here's the chart of NOL.

$200k is hardly enough to be the capital for stocks play (dedicated),
    let alone support one's retirement...

hi, genting is not in the list of stock that are allowed to use cpf to buy.
I am buying liao
This one is Temasek's Baby
Btw, what do you think of Genting as a long term investment (3-5yrs)? I'm thinking of using my CPF as well. But entry price is $1.3 (if it ever reaches)...

That's a very smart and prudent investment. After all the uncertainties are over, in 3-5 yrs, i'm sure NOL will be back to the $2 plus range or higher. By then, ur 100k investment will become 200k. Wow, can retire early liao. Haha.
guess i was lucky to have started early and make some during 05 to 07 china bull run thru funds investment initially before switching out.
during that period is really any how buy any how gain.
lol.
i seldom use cpf to long a counter.
but nol is different as it hit 2 year low in august and rebounded.
it is not often a sti component counter hit 2 year low.
i am prepared to buy and hold for 3 to 5 years. so no worry for me to liquidate at a loss. LOL

You are super confident, and tell others your bets,
especially that you are averaging down .
But then, when or if you go " pok!" , everyone knows...
and you will be " malu" (paisay)...

I dunno why you guys so quick to sell unless using CFD to leverage up which is very risky play if you do that in this volatile market condition.
So eager to give brokerage commission fee?
No $1.35 no sell for me.
Currently I am holding 80 lots bought @ $1.155 using CPF last week.
I will buy more if it goes to $1.
Good Luck :p
