Though, d fortune teller tags its new level px at 7.40, owing to buckets of bad news on it, if u hv missed 8.13 ds morning, then u hv to wait again loh.

If in pm, it dives deeply, then hold the horse, consider below 8 then. No hurry on this burger, heavy stuff, dun worth much effort to hold it, esp after CNY.

Look at current market sentimnet, I think no point buy RIGHT. However, U still at profit based on friday closing if U buy right from market and then convert to Mother share. (Total cost ~ 7++ compared to 8++ as current). Hehe

Hello AK, I am entitle of 1 lot of right, may I know how does it work? Does it mean that I can sell my nil right in the market? for eg. If I sold it at $4 to the market the cost of the right is at $5.42 so I suffer a lost of $1.42/share or I profit $4/share? Please enlighten me. Thanks.

AK opinions: Since last qtr, most finance analysts dun look good on bank sectors as global recession deepened.

To acquire capital via Right issue didn't get much support fr the market, as basic rule stands, under current gloomy market condition.

BBs pushing up the px on both mother n rights, if u followed, u would now see d pinch.

Ds burger kena suspected loan violation with ME investment bank, also another blow to its integrity.

Its unbrella, Tamasick unrealised losses in foreign banks investments also made its unavoidable getting cash via R instead of sucking some milk fr mother to kill d starve n growth.

D above dun call for anyting, but d moral of the story is, to be vigilant on d market's news n trend loh.

You can also apply for 1500 excess rights or 2500,  or whatever number, you know?

thank you.  if i have bought the 500 right shares on open market, how do I convert to the mother share.... the subscription form sent out only account for exiting entitlement ie how do I make payment for the balance, the conversion to the mother share?  bear with me... please.

KZ9219,

If u want to subcribe to 500 excess right, you need to remember you might not be allocated what you subscribed.

However, if you subscibe and got allocated, you only pay 500*5.42 . That is the advantage of the shareholder.

If you choose to buy the DBS Rights from the market, your outlay is 500*2.95(assume closing price) p;us commision plus tax ( as you normally would need to pay for trading)+ conversion to mother share at 500*5.42.

so you see, if you are not entitled for excess right application,  you pay about the same on buying a mother share at 8.43 or 2.95 Rights +trading commision plus conversion of 5.42 to mother share.

thus the advantage of being the entitled shareholder is here: you can apply UNLIMITED Rights!! and pay less ( IF you are allocated)

good luck

newbie here.

i have 1 lot of dbs amd allocated 500 right shares which i will be subscribing. to make up to 2 lot, I can either subscribe to the excess right or buy 500 right shares from open market?  my outlay will be $5.42 x 500 for the entitlement and $2.95 (based on yesterday's closing) x 500 shares for ones I buy in open market?  does that mean i better off to buy the shares from open market?

please bear with me..... first time I got right shares.
