Mostly done at 0.07 ct...and some either cut lost or back back at 8ct. (win or lose, it look set to go down bit by bit, in view of the on going investigation).

Hi Andrew,

I think you misunderstood me. I'm a TA person so fundamentals don't interest me all that much. My comments are based solely on the fact that low volumes and cheap prices make TA difficult to analyse. That's why I avoid these counters.

I don't think is fair to penalize all penny stocks.

Isn't Venture a penny stock then ?  How about NOL in 2002 ? Or Capitaland just a few years....90cts. ?

I would suggest to look at the TA, FA and the results for all stocks and if you want to play penny stocks, double your research effort.

Of course, for this Jade case, is rather exceptional.....Money in the pocket already BUT...oops you can have the stocks back.

All-in-all, it is your duty to look after you money yourself !!  Always ask youself.....Is this really the Hidden Gem ?  Or is that really the BELOW NTA MUST BUY ? Are you very very sure ?

Jade - OCBC makes CAD report against Soh
Business Times - 10 Apr 2008

OCBC makes CAD report against Soh

Man behind failed Jade bid says he has no idea why report was made

By CHEW XIANG

(SINGAPORE) OCBC Bank has made a report to the Commercial Affairs Department on the events surrounding the failed takeover bid for Jade Technologies.

BT understands that the report was against Anthony Soh and his investment vehicle Asia Pacific Links (APL), but not directed against Jade Technologies, the target of an aborted takeover bid by Dr Soh.

In a statement released last night, OCBC's head of corporate communications Koh Ching Ching said: 'In the course of our advisory assignment, a series of events had occurred which caused us to question the integrity of the representations which we have received. This was the basis for our resignation as financial adviser in the takeover.

'We have reported the matter to the Commercial Affairs Department. Therefore, we are not able to provide any further details at this juncture.'

When contacted, Dr Soh said: 'I have no idea why they reported to CAD. But if it's related to the disclosure of the pledged shares I think it's a bit too far.

'I will cooperate with the authorities and I'll do full disclosure to defend myself.'

Early last month, Dr Soh made through APL a 22.5 cents a share conditional offer for Jade, stating he owned about 46.5 per cent of the company. OCBC Bank was the financial adviser to the offeror.

Dr Soh disclosed in a letter to Jade's board on April 1 he had pledged 30.5 per cent of Jade's share capital to Australian broker Opes Prime as security for margin loans. OCBC Bank quit that day as financial adviser to the offeror.

When Opes failed, ownership of those shares passed to its creditors, among them Merrill Lynch. With a much smaller shareholding than thought, Dr Soh admitted last Saturday he could not guarantee he had enough funds to satisfy full acceptances of the offer.

Yesterday. It over sold. Today is over bot, reach a high of 10.5ct, then again closed at 0.090ct. Up +0.03 cents or +50 % on heavy profit taken (volume sort of speculative in nature).

Omni Partners may buy more to average down or they may dump the shares, causing more downside.

There's a lesson to be learnt here. It may be better to sell in the open market than accept the takeover offer. The offer may not go through for some reason and the price plunges.

I need to think why AS offered $0.225? A  conspiracy? or he knows the true value of the company?  SGX would know the answer after investigation.

SHORT all the way to 0.05cents........if not you, S will do it for u.

Then consolidation of shares take place, 10 , 20, or 50 to 1,

so you think 0.05cents will be safe to go in.....NO....

An expensive lesson for many retail punters and dare I say, some hedge funds too. Some try to arbitrage for that 0.5 of a cent, i.e. to buy at 22 cents and hope tender to so and so ( pardon the pun ) at 22.5 cents. Thought sure win what. One must be careful in situation like this. Always look at who is behind a G.O. If its is Tecity or Al futaim, by all means, try to arbitrage or hope for higher bids. Thinking rationally will prevent one from suffering a 72.72% loss  when the potential profit was only 2.27%.
