This SPC is a slow counter. Pity we don't have Exxon, BP, Shell etc. on SGX

 Sell and take profit

AK think that whatever the market is tomorrow, I will download my 45 lots of SPC early the morning, not at one go as the buy and sell volume are rather thin daily. Not a good gamble at this volatile market. Hit and run is the word. An early well wishes to ALL my buddies for the comming CNY, Kong Hi Fa Chai. Cheers.

In the olden days, there was a good investor by the name of Nicola Davas...
who was a dancer by profession.

He made millions by buying certain stocks as they continue to rise.
As his stocks went up, he would buy even more of it...

If it goes higher, he will buy even more of it... Smiley

40¢ dividends, not too bad huh! But disappointed with EPS 2 cents shy of $1.00. I am expecting more than $1.00 for FY07. Revenue only up 2.2% but net earning up 78%. I think last year they have to write down many million $$ which resulted in lost of earning. Now PE stands at sub 7X which is not bad. Let's see how it fare tomorrow, after the FED announcement.

New commers Gator was right. Ex date likely to be at least 2 weeks to a month after the Dev announcement, for this instance, SPC is tomorrow. But this jocker like to pay you the Dev much later as compared to other coy, just don't know why? Nonetheless, you can sell SPC after the Ex date and you still be entitled the Dev, say in May or late Apr this yr.

Today SPC closed at 6.20. It dropped to as low as 5.37on 24 Jan 08. It had steadily climbed back to today's price. A good price hike of 83 cents, so far. The highest price I paid for SPC from yesterday and today was 6.00 and the avg price for 45 lots I bought was 5.814. Henceforth I hv the buffer to wait for tomorrow ST market should DJ tonite dumple. But I still trust FED will cut rate tonite, qtr to half may be.

If DJ done good tonite, SPC will rise when ST market opens tomorrow. Don't rush for it as the profit margin may not be good, if you had missed last Fri, Mon and this morning SPC price, I mean 6.00 and below.

But this is not the end of the game, when SPC drop below 6.00 again due to the volatile market, then you may consider to buy in to earn the Dev between 2 weeks to a month time. Cheers.

theholidayfarm,

you need to be awared of the announcement on EX-Dividend Date (Ex-Div Date) rather than day of announcement.

once Ex-Div date is known, if you want to get dividend, you must HOLD the share until the Ex-D date.

hi thks ak_francis.

"My opinion is sell it once the announcement is made."

so the most important thing is i own SPC's shares AT THE TIME of the announcement? does it mean that i will receive the dev pay out in may even if i sell it on the nxt day of the announcement (i.e. 31.1.08)?

I hv the faith on SPC performance. The coming dev announcement will not less than 35 cents as the previous yr announced at the same period. For the new commers, 35 cents dev means if you have one lot of SPC you will rev $350, likely on first week of May 08.

The question now is can you wait until May 08 with current volatile market? My opinion is sell it once the announcement is made. I hv exhausted both my UOB and DBS online buying limit yesterday and today. I could manage to grab another 5 lots of SPC at $6.00 while market opened at 0855 this morning. As I said earlier, I have acquired 40 lots of SPC ranging from 5.70 to 5.83 yesterday's market. This time around, I will not, as usual, to wait for the devidend. I will download them tomorrow, depending when the announcement is out.

Happy trading. Cheers.
