I'm making money long and short with TA and you tell me TA is not useful.
It's either your TA reading is wrong or you never used TA before.
Either way, you definitely not making money from the stock market now.
Macro Economics is affecting market now because there is a lot of fear.
Every Good News and Bad News are closely watched by the market.
The problem with looking at Macro Economics now is that you don't know what news could come up tomorrow and turn the market direction again.
Furthermore, once the market reach the bottom, macro economics would become useless because traders and investors would focus on individual companies fundamentals for bottom fishing.

in a down market the way stocks move give a very strong indication of whether there's something intrinsically wrong with the stock.
be careful about this one. i think the way it moves is just wrong. no strong hands supporting.
At this time, cannot use FA, as market is volatile.
FA is for long-term investing, not for quickie.

I entered at $1.225 just now, improving slowly. Didn't dare to short any yet. 
I shorted ChinaMinZhong today.
Actually, it's a bit late to short and there is really not much counter left to shorting too.
ChinaMinzhong is one of the few that is still not too late to short.
Set a stop-loss at $1.375.
