Just my view: this time the divvy is a hefty 40¢. On XD SPC may not drop 40¢ as this will represent a 6-7% drop of the share current price of 6.75 (assuming no chong till XD). Unless SPC cheong to 7.50-7.80 before XD then there is possibility to drop 40¢ on XD. So if we buy now, hold till FD, chances of making kopi $$ is quite high (either it run up and drop on XD or the drop is less than 40¢)...just my view. I regret letting go SPC 2 days ago. Anyway, just 1 lot to test the water one, not seriously wanting to betthat time!....THOSE WHO HELD ON, CONGRATULATION...Heng Heng ok!!!

Ha, one gas pipe line down caused SPC jumped a hefty 22 cents this morning. How about the remaing gas pipe line also sabotaed by Sdr troops in Iraq?

Now, SPC price would no further stir by trader's mode of buy for the dividend, but the crisis. Henceforth, now we hv on stone 2 birds apportunity here for SPC. First the original drive of high div and secondly cirsis driven. Dare to try, may be just one lot to test the market? Your choice, thats only my view. Cheers.

I think the last XD for the interim divvy, SPC cheong instead of dropping 20¢. Those who had bought the day just before the XD date would be gaining the divvy of 20¢ plus the run up for the morning (20¢)....I knew this event becos I was one of them..hehehe, but small small oni 2 lots. It's good kopi $$!

Offloaded at 6.98...Abit sad on the progress for this counter. Will accumulate for dividened sake after Ex-D as the interest rate for saving really sucks. Basing on Trend, this counter typically drop the same amount on the Ex-D date. As such, this might provide some purchasing opportunities.

Quite difficult to gauge the SGX's timing, just like yesterday around 1600hrs, quite a drastic change in price. I knocked my head at the keyboard as I download all my SGX at around 1545hrs. Just imagine a swing bt 7.5xx to 7.7xx in end trading. As what I posted during mid day close time that SGX trading volumn was quite low and seems like no one interest on it anymore. I also guessed that it will weaken in the afternoon, it was true till 1545hrs but it turned otherwise near 1600hrs.

Anyway, its quite a hard time to earn some loose money in the stock market. We must be vigillant. Cheers.

SGX is superb counter for trading...

Very good profits can be expected for really good traders whose timing is really good...Smiley

Idesa, SPC is a very good counter, for investment as well as for hit and run strategy. Since 06, my holding on SPC was normally above 30lt, when near Div. This time round,as my capital had been distributed to other blue chips, hence less cash to buy SPC. But still keeping 7 lots for consolation.

Beginning of this yr I even long 45lts on it and made some $ for CNY.

Today, it surged 16 cents up, tks for the intensified street war and sabotages in Iraq. I think my hope to buy in when it falls below 6.5 gone leow. Now, hv to wait until situation stabilised then reconsider to buy in again, may be next mth, before X date.

Anyone has any idea what is the fate of this SPC today, and the coming days? I might be interested to start collecting before the XD. Keep for dividends, better than keeping in FD. But is SPC is gonna downtrend to $4.00, then better put in bank.

AK, you still holding on to SPC? Good choice if you after the divvy, fat one ($400 per lot). This is my favourite counter that I fell in love with. But lately not moving at all. The chart says it will rebound soon after 2 waves of surge, but not happening leh...anyway, my chart skill is damn lousy! I think I will give up looking at charts in the future....LOL! Cheers! I quit on SPC now!

Morning, SPC climbed and stayed steady at 6.57. But closed at 6.52 at break time. In last Sep and Oct, I bought SPC ranging from 6.85-6.05, then crude oil was just above USD 80. While I was on long overseas leave in my kampong last Oct, shocked to notise it shoot up to as high as 8.90. No thinking is required, I managed to clear them in 2 trading at 8.86 and 8.70 respectively.

The moral of the story is the current SPC is not proportionally pegging with the crude oil prices, it much depends on the market sentiment. Last 11 Oct, STI was in record high of 3875.11. Now, STI is merely below 3000. Henceforth, when there is potential of market going up trend, with global situation is stable, then that time could be a much viable time to consider to buy in leow. My view.

This one should run up today as crude spiked up last night, plus all the major oil companies were up with hefty gain. But too bad, I had let go liao... Yah, buy for the divvy, is better than most of the counters and obvious better then the bank interest. Guys good luck! Cheers!

Ya, This is a tricky stock... To get the $400 and stuck $ inside? or dont touch ? or just exit when it runs up near the dividend date (if it does)... Hmm....

*scratch head*...

Consider lucky, as I kept only less than 10 lots this season, if not heart attack leow. In this volatile market, I think after getting the Div, it will slide further. Hence, keeping it till next Qtr result announcement in Sep this yr is unavoidable and its the only strategy. Then it may see some lights as its Indon and China crude oil plant may contribute good Qtr returns. That means, another hefty div again. Hope so lah. Cheers.

Idea, I think you had made the good move. I can't run at this moment, the margine is a bit high. When time near X date, then I may consider to average it, if price then is reasonable. Cheers.
