There were plenty of "ghost stories" here about how the sub-prime ghost haunt the market bull until it had a heart attack...:)

Does anyone here read Russel Heng's popular "Singapore Ghost Stories" series of books?
If I'm not wrong, there are 16 books so far in the series... Smiley

The 'Basket of Goods' to calculate Spore's inflation rate is obviously flawed and does not reflect the true inflation faced by people in Spore.

I remember the June 2007 inflation report released by the Dept of Statistics reported YoY housing costs was -2% (figure may not be accurate as it is from memory; but there was a decrease in housing cost compared to June 2006). Such glaring anomaly should have been reviewed and corrected before release of the data......but I guess it served its purpose as this component helped 'pull' down the overall inflation to a more 'acceptable' level.

It seems that the components in the 'Basket of Goods' is engineered so that it will result in 'tame' inflation figures to make it look good on paper but does not serve its purpose of presenting the real situation.......just my personnal pinion.

Personally,I find cost of living in spore to be reasonable.

I normally pay double the px in australia for the same qty of food ordered.

So much so,thinking of retiring there.hahaha

hi lausk22, thanks for your compliments :) forgive those who trespass against u. godpa and others have not reached that stage, so nothing for me to forgive him/them about :)

as for trusting...well, it's always good to put one's trust in another (unless judgement proven wrong), especially when he/she is someone of wisdom and years of life experiences to share and teach. if given a chance, it would be lovely for me to learn from u too.

as for godpa(s), hahahaha. so far oni 1 leh. cannot handle big family, so 1 godpa enough. and i dun see any young ones offering leh. u are definitely not offering; and neither are u young :)

have a gd weekend everyone :)

Hi all,

Was really busy the last couple of days so I didn't post too much. Talking about GST ... I think hawkers didn't change their price much but the restaurants have started to charge already. I keep having to remind myself that GST is now 7% because my mouth always drop open when I see the final price!!!

Read about the inflation after GST. Recall that some VIPs said very few hawkers increase their prices. Recall one evening that I found that my stomach was not filled when I taken a bowl of noddles which usually I felt enough for me. Flash back to the bowl of mee, Aha more water, less mee but no increase in price. Neutral to GST.

To my three great pals....

cks...I prefer comedy like As You Like It than tragedy like Macbeth...but agree with you that life is a journey. Bon voyage to you...I'm sure many in SJ will be waiting for your return from your journey anxiously to unfold your dramatic travel tales with sensational photos to boot.

EastonBay...Bon Voyage to you too....Again...the players here will be waiting to lap up your Silk Route travelogue. I'm sure you will have many enetertaining stories to tell when you are back.

Mani...Godfriends are like God Brothers one level better than Good Friends. But don't worry ..I'm no Brokeback type..Smiley

bunbun..what can I say?..you are a nice gal..trusting and forgiving, no wonder even young fellows would luv to be your godpa...;)

cheers!!!
