Whatever triangle, rising, descending, somersaulting triangle also no use.

Nowadays everyone also knows about charts.

rotijai      ( Date: 22-Apr-2013 18:14) Posted:

may be i interpreted it differently..

it looked like a descending triangle with 1.22 being the floor price..

it could go either way but i saw it kept testing the 1.22 and this worried me..

anyway it's history now :)

The technical chart has looked beautiful for a long time.

And that was what caused all the interest by many people.

Unfortunately, it is a case of 'chart failure', if one may call it that.

Thus, charts are good only as references and NOT as predictive tools.

well.. depends on when u compare to..

if u compare to ipo price, it's still trading at 30% higher.. hehe

well the offer price at 1.22 stopped me from buying throughout this year..

and the chart looked awful and i personally believe it would drop below 1.22.. (not claiming any credit here, just state my view)

now it has dropped and i am still scratching my head when to buy... especially May is coming.

Can't blame sifu for the interest, since compared to before, it is considered dirt cheap.

When it goes lower, it is even 'cheaper' and is a 'bargain'. Many have the same view too.

By its very nature, stocks cannot be a game to be shared, eg. like football.

Hard work and individual concentration is required. There is no short cut.

And after the hard work, one still have one's own character (human nature)

to overcome. And this is the hardest part of all.

Big losses are all ONLY due to human nature.

Since I sold when it was @130 and 131.5 (ie. took profits), I had no interest in playing this counter.

I did not long or short at all. There are so many other good and promising counters to play.

I agree with sifus Rotijai and shareflux.

I had said before that a company and it's stock are separate entities.

(Not flaming any stock)

CEO Roy Reite has been around for 10years in VARD and he will be the best person to answer all our questions. Hope he will be there tomorrow and i will be interested to know...Specifically what they are going to do about the low activity in their Romania and Vietnam yard as reported in their latest report.

There is no wall sighted in the wall of VARD. Thus, i think the BBs are not in play. As posted by eddte, the weak oil price is having a dampening effect on the O& M stocks and VARD is not spared. Not looking for a quick swing as general sector outlook does not provide catalyst for a up price movement. Unless, Mr Market like the low valuation of VARD at current price. rotijai, agreed with you. management is only responsible for value of the company and not the share price. i rather they concentrate on the business and not the dividend/share price.

sorry but there's something i need to ask u here..

did u question temasek or GIC on why they made losses on certain investment? like olam? or even foreign banks like stanchart or boa.. where they buy at peak and sell at low?

and do they answer?

nothing personal to the stock...

just wanna remind all forumers not to make such claims or really believe such things as

" the management has to answer to the shareholders...

the company will save the stock price...

the company wont let the stock die.. etc "

as long as the company can produce a decent profit and a healthy cash flow and a healthy working environment and target.. imo the management is doing a good job. stock price goes through cycles and it has nothing to do with the management...

... if STXOSV continue to go lower, Ficantieri may have difficulty answer to their shareholders....

" why pay such a premium for STXOSV?"

...last done: $1.160 ... recent low: $1.135....

Not vested... but I think it  will be  good if VARD  new management can confirm her dividend policy in AGM tomorrow. If VARD intends to issue  lesser dividend, then the share price might be adjusted lower in this aspect... to a price relative to peers like Yangzijiang? Otherwise, it is okay...  Just my opinion...

Last min cant make it for the AGM tom sian. Hope any kind soul who is attending do a short sum up on the boards of director's direction on this company in a new thread (VARDS?). And if possible pile them with questions and make sure they start earning their moolahs and not just letting the the price go any lower lol. Cheers.

Always like to read this post of STX.

I am an investor of STXOSV   since IPO till 1.80 till now....Been through peaks and lows....

Basically, I expect the AGM to clarify/communicate what Fincantieri going to do with the company. I dont think we are looking at scenario 2 of shareflux.

Whats happening is basically a lot of investors didnt believe it will drop below 1.22, and after the drop (basically who wanted to buy already bought), a lotta small investors gave up.

Big boys still holding....I guess. But BBs want to know what Fincantieri want to do for STX OSV.   I also want to know....

Also, the offshore stocks recently been killed....But if all paid attention to Keppel report yesterday, actually the margin improved....

STX OSV margin might still go down this year...due to fewer contracts won. But I think (and hope) its already built into the share price. PE is near 6 now for 2013.

This stock is controlled by BBs because of small amount of shares in the market. So the swing historically is usually very wide. Just be prepared for the volitality...if we want to benefit from it.

Good Luck....

Ficantieri investment at $1.22 a share amounting to a total investment of $600 million had lost $40 million. They can be smirky and thumb their nose at us. See $1.22 you don't want, now see what happen. My take is they didnt know any better then, and if any good news probably happen after the sale was done.

There is only two reasons for this to happen...

1. BBs are accumulating in anticipation of good news on Tuesday. Hence they are pressing down the price to accumulate. They probably had accumulated about 20milion shares by now, judging by the average of 5million transaction per day for the last 4 trading days. Probably a win at Petrobas latest tender and coincide with  the opening of the new Brazil Promar yard. If a breakout of 20% happen from $1.14, we can see 1.36 again.

2. there is something really really rotten at VARD. no scenario as i cant think of any. Nevertheless, if there is any probably Ficantieri will sue STX for misrepresentation in the sale process.

Scenario 1 or 2? Your money your take. For those who think they had lost XX amount of money, you are counting too early. Try counting again next Friday. For those attending the AGM on Tuesday, make sure you have two orders standing by. Sell if scenario (2) and buy if (1). Meeting starts at 10.00 am at Pacific 2 meeting room of the Pan Pacific Hotel at Marina Bay.

Thank you. You are neutral.  Interpretation of comments depends on individuals.

My comments are generally general and neutral in nature, and it is meant to

reflect human nature in general. It is equally applicable to all stock players.

eg. " tarn bo gao" (not enough profits), and " mm kam guan" (market revenge)

" see bay hua hee" (happy like fish), etc, etc, are all common natural human traits.

They are highly beneficial to players to grasp for understanding and insight.

What was regarded as 'flaming' are in fact market principles with reference to human nature.

They should not be taken personally but rather as educational principles to benefit from. But obviously this was not regarded by some as a benevolent gesture.
